The Matrix 4 has now become the latest, and one of the last, big productions to shut down because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Lana Wachowski-directed sci-fi sequel was reportedly quite close to wrapping its shoot, having recently moved to Berlin from San Francisco. But Warner Bros. decided to err on the side of caution and pause production "until further notice."

With filming halted or postponed on other major WB projects such as

Fantastic Beast 3 (which was originally scheduled to begin filming today), it was only a matter of time before
The Matix 4 followed suit.
The Matrix 4 will see Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss return as Neo and Trinity. The movie also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff, and was set to hit theaters on May 21, 2021. It remains to be seen of it will still make that release date, of course.
