Carrie Fisher's General Leia Will Reportedly Have A Larger Role In STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII

We already knew that Star Wars: Episode VIII had wrapped, but a new report indicates that the late Carrie Fisher's Leia will have a lot more to do in this movie than she did in The Force Awakens...

Fans are still reeling from the news that Carrie Fisher passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning, but it sounds like the iconic Star Wars actress will at least get a proper big-screen sendoff in the still untitled Episode VIII.

We found out back in July that the film had finished shooting (and yes, that obviously means Fisher had also completed her scenes), and we're now hearing from Deadline that General Leia is to be featured more prominently than she was in J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens.

“For Episode VIII, Leia had a larger role, we’re told, and her daughter, Billie Lourd also is in that film as well as in Force Awakens. How Lucasfilm will deal with the loss of one of the most beloved female characters in any franchise is not known, however, and the company is remaining mum.”

Lucasfilm is probably "remaining mum" because they feel there's plenty of time to address the situation and are not inclined to respond to such disrespectful inquiries.

For now, let's be content in the knowledge that we will get to spend time with Princess (to us, she'll always be royalty) Leia one last time, and that Miss Fisher's final screen performance will no doubt be one to remember.
