Steve Ditko, iconic Marvel artist/writer and co-creator of Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and many other classic characters, recently passed away at the age of 90.

Since the news of his death was reported two days ago, tributes and condolences have been pouring in from those that recognized Ditko's work as truly groundbreaking for not only the comic book industry, but the sci-fi/fantasy genre in general.

We never really got to find out how Ditko felt about seeing the characters he had such a big hand in bringing to life making the jump to the big screen, but we like to think he'd have been proud of the latest incarnation of Spider-Man.

Marvel Studios seems to agree, as they've commemorated the great man with Ryan Meinerding's new painting of The MCU's interpretation of The Webhead, who was co-created by Ditko and Stan Lee back in the 60s.
