After casting Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) as the titular teenage witch last month, Netflix's upcoming The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series, which has already received a two-season order, has now announced the additions of several other key characters, including Sabrina's Aunt Hilda and Zelda.

Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings) will portray the stern Zelda Spellman, who is being described as "Proud and devout, Zelda believes there is no greater honor than serving the Dark Lord as a member of the Church of Night. She is the family’s disciplinarian, fiercely protective of Sabrina and very much Cain to Hilda’s Abel.

Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman) will play her warmer younger sister Hilda Spellman, "More nurturing than Zelda, Hilda’s motherly nature and warm sense of humor belie a wicked, ghoulish streak. She is as adept at brewing spite jars against her family’s enemies as she is at concocting love potions for the students at Baxter High."

Jaz Sinclair (Slender Man), Chance Perdomo (The Art of Trying), and Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) have also joined the cast in series regular roles. Sinclair will play Sabrina's best friend Rosalind Walker, Perdomo will play Ambrose Spellman, Sabrina's warlock cousin from England, and Gomez will portray Mary Wardell, Sabrina's favorite teacher and mentor at Baxter High.

The new series, which will be based on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic books, will reimagine the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. This adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

I would've been more excited for a remake of "The Craft" as a series. But then maybe this Sabrina show has potential seeing as how this series will be closer to the actual books.

Good casting; I may watch! Davis was fantastic and funny in Wonder Woman. Otto was real hot in Lord of the Rings!

@JoeMomma29 - Ugh a reboot of Sabrina? Why? Are there no more new ideas in Hollywood? No one asked for this.

There you go. Hopefully this covered your expectations. lol
BTW I'm actually looking forward to this show

Really interested on this one, i still have to watch Riverdale but i've been told nothing but great things about it.

Now all i need to be reassured is if Salem's gonna be that sarcastic, ironic asshole i loved so much in the 90's show lol. Also i didn't know there were some comic books about Sabrina, i only knew about the 90's teen show reason why it makes this series a lot more interesting for me.

Does anyone who's maybe like early 30's-or-more remember much about the original ABC series? certainly not that I was a regular viewer, but I will admit I'd tune in sometimes to at least half pay attention to see the one particular character on there, Libby. She was Sabrina's "arch nemesis" in school, but she was played by an actress who was genuinely one of the most underrated cute chicks I've ever seen for TV, Jenna Leigh Green. She was bloody gorgeous. I guess she's since done a lot of theater, particularly singing in "Wicked".

but I mean seriously, this is what she looked like at the time of the show:

Always good to see more of Otto. I'm curious to see how dark this will be seeing how it's on Netflix. I hope this is still connected to Riverdale.
