Last month, Fox's long-delayed X-Men spinoff film Gambit received an official release date, and now the film may have just found a production designer, too.

Omega Underground reports that Oscar-nominated production designer Jess Gonchor has been hired by 20th Century Fox for the Gore Verbinski-directed Gambit film, starring Channing Tatum.
Gonchor is best known for his work with the Coen Brothers, with credits including True Grit, No Country For Old Men, and Moneyball. Gonchor has also previously worked with Channing Tatum and Gore Verbinski on films such as The Lone Ranger and Foxcatcher.

With a release date, director, and production designer all in place, things are finally starting to come together for the long-awaited Gambit movie which is expected to begin filming in New Orleans in early 2018 under the working title "Chess." Fox has a slated release date of February 14, 2019.

We still don't have an film official synopsis, but its rumored that Candra The Benefactress, a mutant integral to Remy LeBeau's comic book origin, could be involved in the film. Her inclusion could help bridge Gambit to the studio's other X-Men properties such as Deadpool and X-Force, as Candra is a member of a group of immortal mutants known as the Externals. Character breakdowns for the film also indicate that Mr. Sinister may play an important role in the story as well.

With production on Gambit finally making major strides, it shouldn't be too much longer before we start to get some concrete details. Are you looking forward to seeing Remy LeBeau get his own solo movie?
