The official Twitter page for Josh Boone's The New Mutants has revealed another (very) brief teaser for the X-Men spin-off, and this one might just hint at Mirage's first encounter with the Demon Bear...

There was speculation that the first couple of New Mutants teasers (well, they're actually more like GIFS) shared on the film's Twitter page related to the troubled past of Rahne Sinclair (Maisie Williams), and this latest one definitely seems to be hinting at a crucial scene involving Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hunt).

THE NEW MUTANTS: Get Better Acquainted With The 5 Team Members And The Actors That Play Them

If you've read the Demon Bear Saga, you'll know that Mirage's first attempt to take down the bear that killed her parents leads her out into the snow-covered forest, where she is badly wounded by the demonic creature.

If the bloody scene below seems like too tenuous a connection, there's even a little wooden bear on the ground to the bottom left.

Hopefully we'll get something a bit more substantial soon, but in the meantime this is a pretty cool little reference.

The New Mutants is set to hit theaters next April.

Demon Bear is the entire reason I want to see this! Forget the great tone, interesting direction, and new unknown mutants...there is a freaking demonic bear hunting down teenagers!

There won't be an actual Demon Bear. It'll be her power manifesting a childhood nightmare I bet.

@rabid - See I think that's what everyone will believe at first, but in the end it'll turn out to be real.

@rabid -

I think it'll be something like this;

BACKSTORY;
• Moonstar is capable of creating illusions and enjoys creating them, her favorite being bears
• At one point Moonstar's parents discover her doing this and think she is getting attacked by the bear (in reality she is playing with the bear) and naturally try and drag her awaken from the illusions they see
• We see flashes of Moonstar being traumatized by discovering her parents with what appear to be deep slashes on them

PRESENT DAY;
• Moonstar is in a facility with no idea what the facility is, how long she has been there and she is constantly been given drugs by a Doctor claiming it's to "help her sleep"
• Moonstar eventually escapes the facility and goes out into the snow
• Moonstar is attacked by a 'Demonic Bear', she battles it, but it severely wounds her
• Moonstar is taken to the hospital
• The rest of the New Mutants search for the 'Demonic Bear' only to realize that she was attacked by a normal bear
• At which point Moonstar awakens in the hospital remembering what happened in the past

FLASHBACK;
• At a very young age the parents realised that Moonstar had powers and took her to a Doctor
• Moonstar realizes that her parents had tried to suppress her powers via help from a Doctor at the facility, who it is revealed was actually trying to increase her powers
• The bear from her childhood was actually brought into existence via the drugs, explaining how her parents saw it in the opening despite it supposedly being an illusion.
• Moonstar lost control of her powers, resulting in her summoning the bear from her childhood in a demonic form when upset, which killed her parents.

PRESENT DAY;
• In the present, Moonstar, who has been given drugs throughout the movie which increase her powers has a mental breakdown summoning the actual 'Demonic Bear' into existence that rampages through the facility destroying everything in its path including the Doctor.
• The rest of the New Mutants arrive and manage to subdue her, defeating the 'Demonic Bear'

Not a fan of Fox really, mostly because of Singer and co...but besides Deadpool 2, I am actually excited for this one. Great cast and I like the tone it is going for.
