AVENGERS could possible break Avatar's record in the box office:

Avatar Box Office Numbers
Theatrical Performance
Domestic Box Office $760,507,625
International Box Office $2,023,411,357
Worldwide Box Office $2,783,918,982

Anyone agree??? Comments welcome:
comicbookpayne - 3/28/2012, 9:13 AM
I really hope that the " Aliens" don't turn out to be frost giants or somthing like that. Cuz that would be totally lame.
Hulk2008 - 3/28/2012, 9:14 AM
Hulk/Hawkeye standing side to side just like EMH is EPIC!!!!

BmanHall - 3/28/2012, 9:18 AM
@ Hulk2008: I have a comment.

Yes
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 3/28/2012, 9:24 AM
@Hulk2008

No. The reason Avatar did so well was the lack of competition, and comparisons to Titanic. Also, it got a lot of people talking about it's "message" and people were curious to see what is all the fuss is about. The Avengers will do well, but it will come nowhere close to Avatar.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 3/28/2012, 9:26 AM
Plus the Avengers carries the stigma of being a true comic book movie, and a lot of older viewers who don't have kids (I'm talking late 30's- early 60's) probably won't check it out, unlike Avatar. Avatar appealed to a much, much wider demographic.
Frogman - 3/28/2012, 9:28 AM
There aren't any new images here, ok they're standees instead of high resolution posters that we've already seen but I don't see why this excites so many people. Don't get me wrong I'm excited to see the Avengers but these images aren't anything new.
villain001 - 3/28/2012, 9:34 AM
i see lava... volcanoe in this movie?
JackBauer - 3/28/2012, 9:48 AM
So, we get two shots of Hawkeye and only one shot of Scarjo's fine self in the background? WTF?
TheBaroness89 - 3/28/2012, 9:50 AM
It would be difficult to garner Avatar or Titanic money considering the length of time in theaters and the re-releases. My single wish is for a comic book movie to take down the love boat but it won't happen.
Ghostfire - 3/28/2012, 9:56 AM
Those are F'n sweet!! I still need to get me an Avengers
movie poster for my game room, it feels incomplete
without it.
Bandrews1 - 3/28/2012, 9:59 AM
These are pretty awesome.
Hulk2008 - 3/28/2012, 9:59 AM

Hulk2008 - 3/28/2012, 10:21 AM

Theatrical Performance

International Box Office $434,407,829
Worldwide Box Office $836,519,699
abuleban - 3/28/2012, 10:24 AM

Uh, why did they stick Black Widow in the back.
Her body is all I want to see. I was looking forward to taking a pic next to that standee, grabbing her ass..
Oh well-_-
Fogs - 3/28/2012, 10:32 AM
@NextHero08 - that must be the first positive comment I see from you towards the Avengers, well done man!

All together on this great CBM year! [frick] yeahhh!!
NeedlenoseNedRyerson - 3/28/2012, 10:35 AM
Cap looks tired
thetrojan - 3/28/2012, 10:42 AM
I am 48 years old or young depending on how you look at it.
And I would be going to see this regardless of having kids.
In fact I think my age group may be the nostalgia kick this movie recieves on release.

I do have young kids though and will drag them along to moan and groan through the movie!
ha!
ckal - 3/28/2012, 10:45 AM
Fanboy-

Avatar lack of competition? IIRC, that December was the biggest December in history partly due to avatar's competition which I believe was Sherlock Holmes and another kiddy flick that did really well.
BB - 3/28/2012, 11:00 AM
hey someone respond to my comment!!!!!!!!!!!
ralfinader - 3/28/2012, 11:36 AM
Where is Spiderman and Wolverine?
ralfinader - 3/28/2012, 11:47 AM
@ Ridiculousfanboydemands - I'm squarely in that age group you mentioned above, and I can tell you I am more pumped for this than when I was 7 years old and saw the first Superman trailer starring Christopher Reeves (also probably why I don't have any children I am aware of!).

@theTrojan - Exactly. These are the charactors I read about as a young buck, and children or not, my ass has a very important date with an uncomfortable theater chair May 4th.
ralfinader - 3/28/2012, 11:50 AM
PS- Avatar sucked, I liked South Park's 'Dances with Smurfs' better.
GreyChaos13Zero - 3/28/2012, 12:46 PM
Cap, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye and the rest all look great?)
OverlyManlyMan - 3/28/2012, 1:05 PM
Azazel looks like a [frick]ing retard from these side of the computer
marvel72 - 3/28/2012, 3:02 PM
@ hulk2008

no cbm this year will touch avatar, avatar 2 will beat avatar.

don't know if it'll beat the dark knight, but it may beat transformers 2.
SageMode - 3/28/2012, 3:42 PM
Yeah, my father geeked out over the AVENGERS tv spot, and he's 55 years old.

So I think THE AVENGERS is gonna reach a much wider audience that a lot of doubters think that it will be.
vtopa - 3/28/2012, 3:57 PM
Thor....Like a BOSS.
nld3 - 3/28/2012, 4:29 PM
Hawkeye needs a mask or something.
Hulk2008 - 3/28/2012, 5:42 PM
@nld3

How's this?

hartley07 - 3/28/2012, 5:47 PM
thor looks epic.
hawkeye always looks like his puppy got hit by a bus.

@ralphinader
avatar sucked. agreed. guy forgets to tell the blueman group why they want the trees in the first place, the whole reason he was there.
meatbag - 3/28/2012, 5:53 PM
I don't care if Avengers only makes five bucks at the damned box office, it will be awesome. Avatar made all of that money, had the happy meal toys, and all of the hype...and it [frick]ing sucked. I hated that movie.
SageMode - 3/28/2012, 6:44 PM
AZAZEL1

And why is that?
