Chaud:
I'm not saying it has to even have a bad story because it's a turtles movie.
3/31/2015 5:43:54 PM
Chaud:
But it's an origin film. It showed how the turtles and April came together, and their first encounter with the Foot Clan.
3/31/2015 5:44:11 PM
Batnut92:
The foot clan? What foot clan? All I saw was a bunch of lame dudes in crappy masks with guns.
3/31/2015 5:44:29 PM
Chaud:
The Foot Clan in the 1990 film was barely portrayed as more than a glorified punching bag gang.
3/31/2015 5:45:07 PM
Chaud:
They might as well have guns.
3/31/2015 5:45:10 PM
Chaud:
And they weren't all armed.
3/31/2015 5:45:29 PM
Dev7:
so Amell is playing a major character in the TMNT sequel?
3/31/2015 5:46:48 PM
Dev7:
so that should give ppl on this site reason to watch TMNT sequel now
3/31/2015 5:47:06 PM
Batnut92:
I'm not saying the 90's was accurate either but at least they were ninjas in some capacity.
3/31/2015 5:47:28 PM
Chaud:
More like give them another reason to bash the TMNT sequel.
3/31/2015 5:47:28 PM
Chaud:
What about the Foot who trained with the Shredder toward the beginning?
3/31/2015 5:48:00 PM
Chaud:
They were ninjas.
3/31/2015 5:48:07 PM
Batnut92:
Hardly.
3/31/2015 5:50:02 PM
Batnut92:
They never showed any other semblence of actual ninjitsu beyond that scene
3/31/2015 5:50:29 PM
Chaud:
But were nevertheless trained in ninjitsu.
3/31/2015 5:51:11 PM
Chaud:
And the Foot Soldiers themselves were a minor part of the movie.
3/31/2015 5:51:26 PM
Chaud:
The Shredder himself is shown to be a proficient martial artist.
3/31/2015 5:51:35 PM
Batnut92:
Which was never utilized and thus pointless pushed aside and given guns instead.
3/31/2015 5:51:35 PM
Chaud:
Well yeah, they used guns. Not about to hold people hostage in the subway with your bare hands.
3/31/2015 5:52:38 PM
Batnut92:
I'll give you that, Shredder was badass, suit was a bit ridiculous but his fight with Splinter was great, those two were good even if Splinter's attaining of said abilities was a bit ridiculous
3/31/2015 5:52:50 PM
Batnut92:
Bare hands? Are we forgoing actual weapons than? Nunchaku's, Katana's, Sai's?
3/31/2015 5:53:30 PM
Chaud:
In the original representations of Splinter, you either have him learning ninjitsu by watching Yoshi (pre-mutation, mind you) or by being Yoshi himself.
3/31/2015 5:53:43 PM
Chaud:
Your mileage may vary on whether you accept that interpretation, but it's no more absurd than the traditional story.
3/31/2015 5:54:04 PM
Batnut92:
Both of which was more preferable than learning from a single book.
3/31/2015 5:54:06 PM
Batnut92:
The first thing that a martial artist must learn, is the art of Imitation.
3/31/2015 5:54:31 PM
Chaud:
An unmutated house rat martial artist.
3/31/2015 5:54:43 PM
Chaud:
If it had been after he was mutated, okay, but they show him mimicking Yoshi just when he was a regular rat.
3/31/2015 5:55:08 PM
Batnut92:
I would've been happy if they had him be a reincarnation of Yoshi like in the current IDW run.
3/31/2015 5:56:24 PM
Batnut92:
That still would have been better than having him learn and be as skilled as he was through a book.
3/31/2015 5:56:35 PM
Chaud:
After sixteen years of practise, mind you.
3/31/2015 5:57:30 PM
Batnut92:
But that takes away another aspect. The shredder/splinter relationship to start with, the revenge/rivalry that lead to many a compelling moment between the two. This was explored well both in the show and the comics, and instead we see them reduced to being near complete strangers, leading to a far more uninteresting relationship with Shredder involved in a plan that makes jack lick of sense.
3/31/2015 6:00:36 PM
Dev7:
u need to start your own blog batnut
3/31/2015 6:00:59 PM
Chaud:
They didn't completely remove it. They just retooled it.
3/31/2015 6:01:53 PM
Chaud:
Instead of being Hamato Yoshi's pet and avenging Yoshi, he's April's dad's pet avenging April's dad.
3/31/2015 6:02:11 PM
Chaud:
Same common thread of betrayal.
3/31/2015 6:02:15 PM
Batnut92:
Could not handle the stress Dev, I'd be too worried about if it was good enough lol.
3/31/2015 6:03:09 PM
Chaud:
And the plan makes sense. Flood New York with a disease, make money off the only cure.
3/31/2015 6:03:49 PM
Chaud:
It's a very American evil plan.
3/31/2015 6:04:10 PM
WerthamWasRight:
Saucer plate nips
3/31/2015 6:04:13 PM
WerthamWasRight:
That is all
3/31/2015 6:04:15 PM
Batnut92:
Really? So the millionaire villain gets even MORE richer? What does he need more money for? He's leading a successful company as it is, and your telling me he was willing to risk everything just for the sake of MORE money? I don't care if it was america, it's stupid
3/31/2015 6:05:19 PM
Batnut92:
And right. unleash the diseas off the tower that was the evil millionaire's headquarters to start with. That's totally smart.
3/31/2015 6:05:42 PM
Chaud:
Rich people are greedy. TMNT 2014 didn't come up with it.
3/31/2015 6:06:07 PM
Batnut92:
To the point of stupidity?
3/31/2015 6:06:18 PM
Batnut92:
That doesn't make his motivations any better. That just makes him and shredder even more uninteresting.
3/31/2015 6:07:09 PM
Chaud:
And I'll grant you the evil millionaire headquarters bit, but TMNT 2014 didn't come up with that either.
3/31/2015 6:07:46 PM
Chaud:
CBM villains have never been very discreet.
3/31/2015 6:07:53 PM
Batnut92:
No, they just stole that off of Amazing Spider-Man, magic blood, check, falling tower, check.
3/31/2015 6:08:42 PM
Chaud:
Amazing Spider-Man isn't the origin point of the falling tower, either.
3/31/2015 6:08:57 PM
Chaud:
Might as well say that Amazing Spider-Man ripped that off of Jingle All The Way.
