After years and years of occasionally assisting the team, befriending many of it's members, continuous reluctance and many refusals, this September finds Daredevil:The Man Without Fear officially joining the ranks of The Avengers. That's right! Brian Michael Bendis is officially adding Matt Murdock to The New Avengers line up starting this September in issue #16.

From Bendis...

"He's got a lot to answer for and a lot to deal with. He is a fish out of water on the Avengers, and that's uncomfortable and damn fun to write."

"Daredevil, particularly — and I'm to fault for this as anybody — is never really involved in any of the big events. His story line just never lines up with Skrulls or whatever the hell else we're doing. It was nice to get him in line for an Avengers team, but at the same time have him involved in some of this crazy mishegas we've got going on."

Hawksblueyes: I think this addition is way overdue. Murdock is good friends with many Avenger members and has assisted the team on many occasions. I think it's about time he found out that being on that kind of team can have it's advantages. What do you think about his addition to The Avengers?

sounds intresting.

So......is there anyone who's NOT in the Avengers? Who's next? Spider-Ma.....oh, wait, ummmmm Wolveri-....wait wait, Thing......well, damn......I know, I know...Squirrel Girl!!! Ah damn, she's already in there too.

Avengers is becoming more like the Superheroes Union. It guarantees fair pay and decent housing as well.
nuck82 - 6/8/2011, 4:29 PM
good, i cant wait to read some good DD, the pic looks cool
JoshWilding - 6/8/2011, 4:29 PM
Amazing news! Been waiting for this to happen for a long time! Great stuff HAWKS! :)
marvel72 - 6/8/2011, 4:31 PM
@ alcoholica

its no different to the justice league how many members has that group got.

the thing that pisses me off is how many teams some characters are on i.e wolverine he's on x-men,x-force & the avengers.
Hawksblueyes - 6/8/2011, 4:35 PM
The Avengers has always had a revolving door of members and the fact that almost every Marvel Super Hero I can think of has been a member has always struck me as a slap in the face to Daredevil. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that membership has been offered to him on several occasions, I just think that it's an honor many less deserving heroes have had for some time.

LONG OVERDUE!
Gauntlet - 6/8/2011, 4:36 PM
No no no no!
Daredevil is the one hero that shouldn't be in the Avengers, [frick]ing Bendis!! Cocksucker!!!
Sortis - 6/8/2011, 4:40 PM
This will be interesting, it was interesting to see him lead The Marvel Knights for the short time it was alive, but to see him be an Avenger, this is the perfect way to slide him back into the superhero community slowly so that he can re-earn a lot of peoples trust, very cool.
longbowhunter - 6/8/2011, 4:42 PM
DD is one of the few in the Marvel Universe who hasnt joined the ranks at some point. Looks like it time for me to start buying New Avengers.
AlcoholicA - 6/8/2011, 4:44 PM
@ Marvel72
Oh I don't ACTUALLY care how many they cram in, I read and enjoy all three Avengers titles, but yeah, Wolverine's on three, but four depending if you count his own personal adventures. Spider-Man is now running solo, with the Avengers, and with the FF. Man's gotta sleep sometime!!!
AlcoholicA - 6/8/2011, 4:45 PM
I keep reading that he needs to "earn people's trust" or "redeem" himself. I don't read DD, so what did he do that's so bad?
Hannibal_King - 6/8/2011, 4:50 PM
I'll be reading the Daredevil comic, not New Avengers. Especially because Bendis is writing it. Having DD on the team doesn't prompt me to read it.
DarthTesla - 6/8/2011, 4:54 PM
Wow, this is actually a big deal for ol Horn Head.

I've been waiting since I was a kid for Matt to FINALLY become an Avenger.

Bendis is definitely the man to do it.
whytry2hard - 6/8/2011, 5:02 PM
Matts back already? What ever happened with Black Panther being DD?
rdoughty1 - 6/8/2011, 5:03 PM
This is a long time coming, I can't wait to see it. I've enjoyed Spider-man and Wolverine in New Avengers, and I think this can do a lot for Daredevil as a character. To me Shadowland and Reborn kinda sucked, I'm ready for DD to return to greatness.
SageMode - 6/8/2011, 5:04 PM
I've always wondered why Daredevil was pretty much one of the major Marvel superheroes that has not been an Avenger yet. But its good to see him join.
Chewtoy - 6/8/2011, 5:05 PM
The Avengers under Bendis has always been a random collection of Superfriends. Frankly, I'm thrilled the film version can't follow his craptacular take.
JohnTom88 - 6/8/2011, 5:09 PM
Matt should assume leadership of the New Avengers because Steve Rogers sticks with the other Avengers 24/7
HeyVanity - 6/8/2011, 5:46 PM
Finally! Been waiting a long time for this :D

@Hannibal_King

Brian M Bendis' Daredevil run is considered the premiere run on the character. Daredevil was considered at his best while under the pen of BMB. So Bendis hating aside do you have a better reason not to read New Avengers, or is it just your rediculous hate for the writer?
JackJNapier - 6/8/2011, 6:01 PM
@N

Please never come on this site again, as you are not even reading the article before posting. This has nothing to do with the Avengers movie, but the the that resides in the comic books.
SamHell - 6/8/2011, 6:38 PM
UM, cant see spiderman or the moonknight get their ass handed to em by DD

No F.uckin way
SamHell - 6/8/2011, 6:45 PM
whats that pic of Intruder
Shadow11 - 6/8/2011, 6:49 PM
Have Daredevil make a cameo for the Avengers and then include Daredevil in the Avengers Sequel if they do a sequel for The Avengers
C0nan - 6/8/2011, 6:54 PM
Very, very cool. It's definitely atypical though. The guy is just not much of a joiner.

But yeah I love seeing DD interact with other heroes.
C0nan - 6/8/2011, 6:56 PM
I'm with Longbow Hunter. Maybe I should start reading this book.
DoodPool - 6/8/2011, 7:02 PM
If the Avengers didn't have every character in marvel in it already this might mean something, but the avengers comic is too diluted with superheroes to be entertaining to anyone but children. If the Avengers became the core group again Daredevil would be a better fit, but besides that enoughs enough.

I can't wait till avengers drop spidey and wolverine talk about over exposed, watch next they will throw deadpool in there just to make it the ultimate cluster[frick].
TheDukeofMadmen - 6/8/2011, 7:14 PM
Daredevil has always been one of my favorite comics over the last 30 years. It will be fun to see him on the New Avengers, which has become a home for a lot of Solo and B-List marvel characters. It will be fun to see how he gets along with Wolverine and Spiderman.

Belly up to the bar Mr. Murrdock and let the Duke by you a drink.

sounds interesting. i might pick this one up
LordHuck - 6/8/2011, 10:22 PM
oooooooooooooooooooooooh great another hero who hits things with sticks. yay :-/
kingmonkeyman - 6/8/2011, 10:48 PM
I can't wait to see Daredevil Vs Pinata Man
Jefferys - 6/9/2011, 2:45 AM
I have this weird feeling that they're putting super heroes that Fox and Sony own for movies to make them seem less useful. Look at Spider-man and how he teamed up with FF. Doesn't it all seem odd.

Anyways; Awesome; DD in New Avengers; Think it should be great; Love it; Marry it; Probably not marry it; But; It's great; Nice work Hawks!
CorndogBurglar - 6/9/2011, 4:54 AM
he would have been a better fit in the Secret Avengers.
ThaMessenger07 - 6/9/2011, 6:00 AM
I Agree with CorndogBurglar.....

He would be fine if he continued solo but I like to see some interesting change for a while.....
Hawksblueyes - 6/9/2011, 6:25 AM
That's Iron Fist thills.
JackBauer - 6/9/2011, 6:33 AM
Cool. Back in the day I always wanted DD and Cyclops to join the Avengers.

Although he was usually left out of the company wide crossovers he did get some love during the Infinity War and Infinity Crusade.

JackBauer - 6/9/2011, 7:18 AM
@Hawks - I just noticed your fansite is called GulfCoastAvengers. You live down here?
niknik - 6/9/2011, 9:07 AM
"Intruder - 6/8/2011, 4:47 PM

He became leader of The Hand then ursurped Wilson Fisk as The Kingpin. He started killing bad guys left and right and eventualy turned his back on the superheroes. But he was possesed by a Demon the whole time so it wasn't really his fault.

It was very much like Hal Jordan in Emerald Twilight."

Or Bucky in the Winter Soldier storyline......or a half dozen other similar storylines in other titles. I would absolutely $hit myself if one of todays writers\editors actually came up with an original idea for once.
Hawksblueyes - 6/9/2011, 9:21 AM
Jack: Pensacola.
CorndogBurglar - 6/9/2011, 9:38 AM
I would have preferred him in Secret Avengers, but I'm still glad to see one of my favorite Marvel characters getting their due.
JackBauer - 6/9/2011, 10:17 AM
@Hawks - I'm in Mobile. We're practically neighbors :)
EarOne - 6/16/2011, 9:14 AM
to me, this will just be pointless. there've been so many heroes with similar powers to DD in the avengers already. and i don't think DD is a good fit and necessary to becoming an avenger.

i'd rather see the silver surfer or johnny storm (well, after he's back from the dead), or iceman to join the team instead. or why not have the Hulk (the original one) returns and do some team work once again???

DD is a straight up solo fighter, he's always been and should stay that way. he's unique like that.
