BOX OFFICE: DEADPOOL Opens Internationally To $12M

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool looks on track to be a solid financial hit for 20th Century Fox as the film opens to $12 million internationally. The film is expected to gross $55+ million this weekend in US theaters.

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool opened in seven international markets yesterday and debuted to the impressive tune of $12 million.  Reynolds previously commented on the budget for Deadpool, stating that Tim Miller made the film on what would be considered the '[email protected]%e budget' for the bigger superhero films.  Case in point, Exhibitor Relations is reporting that Deadpool had a production budget of $58 million.

Opening tomorrow, Deadpool is on track for a $55+ million weekened in the U.S.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. The film is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
