EDITORIAL: Why Some Reasons Why The JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Will Suck Are Invalid And They Are Debunked

LEVITIKUZ returns to the editorials. I looked at some reasons why people say the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie will suck and prove those points wrong. Hit the jump to check it out.

Man I missed the editorials. I have written 7 news articles, 1 scoop article, and 3 feature articles since my last editorial. Now I’m back. Have been busy and now let’s get down to business. There has been a lot of news about the Justice League film. With news there are complaints about how the movie will suck. These complaints are juvenile. I’m going to defend every negative reason people think why the Justice League film will suck.

Dude it's coming out in 3 years. They are focusing on one film for 3 years. Three years is plenty of time to make it good.

So? Is Marvel scared of a little competition? Let’s not forget they already were well into production for Justice League: Mortal back in 08 but it got canned. One of the reasons it got canceled is because they didn't want 2 Batman’s since Nolan was already working on his series. Now that Nolan's series is done they can do a Justice League movie. It just so happens that when Nolan finished Batman, Marvel released Avengers.

Yea because everyone saw Thor, or Captain America: The First Avenger, or The Incredible Hulk. Just because you make solo movies of the characters beforehand does not mean people have to see them in order to watch The Avengers.

You don't need to tell everyone's origin. You don't need Batman’s, or Superman’s, or Flash’s, or Green Lantern’s origin. You don't need to really tell Aquaman’s. Just bring him in like how he came in the New 52 Justice League story. The only origins that need to be told really are Wonder Woman's, Martian Manhunter’s and Cyborg’s. It isn't important to have solo movies. If each character has their own moment in the film then people will love the character.

Everyone on the Avengers except the Hulk was B-List superheroes. The characters everyone knows from Marvel are Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, and Fantastic Four not Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. Marvel took their B-List heroes and brought them into the A-List. Everyone in the Justice League is well known.

No crap. They are the 2 leaders on the team. Was the main focus not on Captain America and Iron Man in The Avengers? It has been confirmed that the main characters in the script are Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

Read my article I have already written about this. The Marvel Way is not the only way.
EDITORIAL: The Pros And Cons of WB's Making The DC Movie Universe The Marvel Way and The Pros And Cons of Making The DC Movie Universe Starting With JUSTICE LEAGUE

He had Mark Millar look it over and Mark said the following about it:

His take on the team is incredible. Very real-world and not at all what you might expect. WB has a chequered history with their superhero characters. They're great with their boy wizards, but less consistent with their DC stable. But my chum said that this could be a thing of beauty and has been in the works for a little while now, not just an Avengers knock-off. Best of luck to them. The tidbits I heard sound quite dark and mature, which isn't what I expected. But word on Gangster Squad is great too so I feel this is in really good hands.

I trust Mark’s work and his opinion. If you don’t that’s your problem.

What type of a point is that? THEY HAVE 3 YEARS TO MAKE THE MOVIE!!! Casting and a director will be confirmed in my mind within the next 6 months.

GoodFellas, Ghostbusters, Watchmen, Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Expendables, Tropic Thunder, Red, A-Team, Wanted, Star Wars IV, Kick-Ass, and the Ocean movies are all films that had ensemble casts that have been successful and haven't had a film led to the movie.

They aren’t going to introduce them and explain their origins. Look at how the characters in The Avengers were introduced. Thor came out of nowhere, Iron Man was working on his building, Cap was boxing and Hulk was in some South American country I want to say. The thing about the Justice League is they didn’t have a group bring them together like how SHIELD brought The Avengers together. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it can’t be done well.

So? He won’t be the main villain because this news came after the script was written. Also this was a rumor that this site found. This site posted rumors about Spidey being in The Avengers and Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Azrael.

Lets look at DC movies since 05. Batman Begins was great, Superman Returns was good, The Dark Knight was great, Watchmen was great, Johan Hex sucked, Green Lantern was let’s say average, The Dark Knight Rises was great. 4 movies were great, 1 was good, 1 was average, and 1 sucked. WB’s is 5/7 for movies that have been good and up. No one wants to put out a bad movie. Just because it’s a response to something doesn’t make it a bad movie.

The only Justice League member to be on the big screen outside of the big 2 was Green Lantern. How can you say everyone else will suck? Other characters they did were Johan Hex and Catwoman and they sucked. The only movie that wasn’t Batman or Superman and that WB’s took seriously and didn’t rush was Watchmen and that movie was great. If they take a similar approach that Watchmen had to Justice League, it could be great.

This is the only real point I can’t defend. I hope this doesn’t happen. I believe if Man of Steel is great then the Justice League movie will be in the same universe as Man of Steel

Let’s look at this rumored list:

Ben Affleck-how is he bad? He directed The Town, Argo, and Gone Baby Gone. These are great movies. How is he a bad choice?

Brett Ratner-Ok I see why this maybe a bad choice.

Zack Snyder-He directed 300, , and Man of Steel. He is passionate about comic books and loves them. He is perfect for this movie.

McG-I see your point why he may be bad.

Wachowski’s-They have a love for comics. They’re movies are also visually amazing. They aren’t a bad pick.

I issue a challenge. Anyone who has any other reason that the Justice League movie will suck, post it. I will debunk that reason. What are your thoughts? Do you think the Justice League movie will soar or fall? Comment below. Peace.

Watch, AvengerFan2012 is gonna either bash this editorial or write a horrible and stupid response to this.
comicNERD1031 - 10/20/2012, 10:24 AM
I completely agree. I think jumping straight into a JL movie is the best choice for WB. Batman/ Superman and Green Lantern don't need to have an origin story.Flash and Wonder Woman do and depending on who else is involved they too would need some development.

I'm not expecting more than five heroes in the first. It would be too big of a cast. and those five being Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Flash. Maybe Martian Manhunter, I'm thinking he will have something to do with the reason the JL assembles for the first time.

And if they decide to do origins for those characters there is a simple way to do it and not waste a single minute of movie time, How do you ask?

With the age of the internet and youtube they could simple film a quick 5-8 minute short depicting the origins. similar to that of Marvel's One-Shots but better done.

Just my idea.
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 10:48 AM
I'm impartial right now. Part of me wants the shared Universe right away, but another part thinks yes, do Justice League and when the audience falls in love with characters like Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Hal Jordan done right, do the solo movies pre-Justice League.

Hell, they could pull a Prometheus. Have a bunch of plot points that don't add up and need prequels based on the solo heroes prior to the Justice League to explain them and make everyone full circle. Still, I don't know. 50/50. I think it will be a Universal [frick] up and I think it will be better or on par with Avengers.
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 10:48 AM
Oh, and AvengersFans. Your input ain't welcome :D
TonyChu - 10/20/2012, 11:10 AM
The way I see it is if DC were to copy Marvel's strategy they would get critized to no end about how they are copy cats. And yet if they don't people will complain about how they are rushing and just want the money. I honestly think establishing a JL movie before the solo films can work but they need a great story, a director who care about the characters, and actors who can potray these characters well. Either way I am cautious but very optimistic. I hope GL failure and The Avengers success will be a wake up call for DC/WB.
Minato - 10/20/2012, 11:22 AM
Jerry23 good idea
EdgyOutsider - 10/20/2012, 11:27 AM
I still say no to Snyder for Justice League. 300 was ok at best and Watchmen was amazing. He has Man of Steel and possibly its sequels. The Wachowski's wouldn't be a bad choice but they're iffy. Get a director who knows who he is doing that isnt Nolan and that isnt Snyder.
ArtisticErotic - 10/20/2012, 11:30 AM
If it sucks who gives a damn. If it succeeds then good for it.

Stop making these stupid as articles like you can see the future.
manymade1 - 10/20/2012, 12:07 PM
Great to have you back in the editorial section [b]LEVITIKUZ[/b].

My only fear is the directors list. The best choice on that list is Affleck but wasn't he confirmed to not be involved?
superotherside - 10/20/2012, 12:19 PM
I don't want it to fail, I just don't want it to be in the same universe with Green Lantern. Because GL, just annoyed me. At any rate, perhaps it could work. I'd really like if they had a credits sequence which did something to explain their origins. It would be very short, then some perhaps could be given an origin in the movie. Just depends on how it's done.
AgentZero - 10/20/2012, 12:20 PM
It looks like we think alike.

People on this website are just plain stupid and quick to judge a movie that has not even begun filming. Look how they are praising Heath Ledger and Mark Ruffalo now. It was a different matter before The Dark Knight and The Avengers came out.
FrozenJoy - 10/20/2012, 12:37 PM
It IS being rushed, you DO need the origins of most members, WB IS copying Marvel, and WB does suck.
FrozenJoy - 10/20/2012, 12:38 PM
I hope JJ Abrams directs this. Everyone else on the list sucks.
incrediblesuperbatspider - 10/20/2012, 12:56 PM
Good article, I hate the fact that most people on here act like you cannot make a justice league movie without having solo movies first. Just because the Avengers did it doesnt mean that everyone else has to do it now..imagine it nick fury had to pop up on the post credits scene of a Danny ocean movie and brought all the other thieves together for oceans eleven
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 1:43 PM
Hey, AvengerFan. Here's a God damn hint. Post a comment that's more than two sentences long. Stop breaking your damn opinion up into 20 separate comments.
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 1:53 PM
Well, I look forward to seeing your response via comments to his article. My main concern is the casting, especially Wonder Woman.
PaulRom - 10/20/2012, 3:01 PM
Great stuff as usual. And what TonyChu said, some people will criticize WB no matter what their approach to JL is.

As for telling the characters' origins, I think it can be done in the opening credits (a la Incredible Hulk). The character who really needs a proper origin story is Wonder Woman. Maybe Martian Manhunter if he's in the movie. And I'd say JL would be in development for four years by 2015, since Will Beall was hired to write the script in 2011.
PaulRom - 10/20/2012, 3:03 PM
@AvengersFan2012: "WB IS copying Marvel." Even when they're taking a different approach to JL from what Marvel did with Avengers?

aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 3:19 PM
Go [frick] yourself. I´ve read your stuff, you are not a real comic book fan. you are an egotistical prepubescent idiot, who´s opinions are launched with such authority yet hold very little substance. Your on a crusade to justify the greed of corporations. Why? because you are nothing but a numb skulled robot, who would rather just see explosions, than developed characters and a real story arch. Just cause you´ve read a couple of Batman comics in your life, doesn´t make you a comic fan. Go read some stuff, get a real love for the characters, before you jump on your ill informed high horse telling every one what to think, and ostracizing those who justifiably don´t agree.

flipping child.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 3:32 PM
Will Beall to date has written:

Lethal Weapon 5 (screenplay) (announced)

???? Logan's Run (announced)

2013 Gangster Squad (written by) (completed)

2009-2011 Castle (TV series)
– Knockout (2011) (written by)
– Knockdown (2011) (written by)
– Den of Thieves (2010) (written by)
– Sucker Punch (2010) (written by)
– Home Is Where the Heart Stops (2009) (written by)

Yes that´s right a shit TV show and Lethal weapon 5. Gangster Squad hasn´t even come out yet. we know nothing about it. I´m not suggesting it will be bad, or even that the JL script is bad. What I´m saying is, they are treating characters, who are great in and of themselves, with such disdain.

Flash and Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter, are far more interesting than Thor. Their mythology far superior to [frick]ing Captain America, I don´t want to see thir movie career ruined cause DC know they can make a quick buck by doing a head to head with Marvel.

Just tell the truth you want a JL movie period. quality is a secondary issue for you. Just admit you´ve never read a Flash or MMH or WW comic, possibly not even a Superman one, which is why you don´t really care about the characters. You have know passion for who they are and how remarkable their stories could be if done by a team who cares about them.
Basically your an action movie fan masquerading as a comic fan. Your points are shit. They are mere bullshit just opinion your writing in hope to get support by individuals as "intellectually inspiring" as Sotojuiceman.
95 - 10/20/2012, 3:58 PM
I'm okay with Warner Bros.' plan. It's three years away, you're right about that. My mind isn't really on the Justice League till names get signed in. Call me when the Wachowskis are at helm. And as always, neatly written article with many good points @LEVITIKUZ. However, those few points you couldn't defend we're hard to avoid and doesn't aid you're overall point.
95 - 10/20/2012, 4:11 PM
I actually want to say one more thing that isn't directed at anybody, it's my opinion on DC's films.

Man Of Steel looks absolutely gorgeous. On December 4th, I will complete my The Dark Knight Trilogy Blu-ray collection. While Marvel Studios' upstaging has angered many fans of un-adapted DC heroes, that's not to say that DC hasn't made great movies (as established in Point #13 of this article). All the upcoming comic book adaptations sound promising. I'm very optimistic and I'm pretty sure my optimism will be rewarded.
Kong - 10/20/2012, 4:25 PM
LolAvengersFan said they were copying Avengers right after they said the JLA film was rushed and wouldn't work. This is the exact opposite of avengers

Anyway I love all your points and 100% agree with these. Keep up the good editorials.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 4:44 PM
@Levitikuz - I´ve read your other articles and other people make good points which you dismiss. You start your articles bigging yourself up, then don´t answer peoples criticisms of your erroneous points. People who are actually passionate about the characters. If you don´t care enough to read the comics, then don´t write articles about the characters to quote you, just to show your utter unabashed arrogance:

"I recently have wrote 2 editorial articles about the up and coming Justice League movie. Those articles have had high praised that have been called, “a really cool article”, “Best Justice League article I've read. You're my hero”, “great article, good viewpoints, do more f these a lot better than some of the other bad editorials”, “Finally, an editorial that I can be excited about”, “Great article and well written” and a lot more. People have said my 2 articles and Tainted87’s “Breaking Into the Justice League” are the best articles on this site about the Justice League movie. After so much praise I decided to make one last article. In the first article"

One of those praises written by the utterly mind numbed Soto Juice Man. look if you wanted to read superman or Wonder Woman comics you could download or any other number of ways you could get the comic. Monthlies tend to be shit, so get the graphic novels. I don´t mind you having your opinion, what I hate is the way you act like a child when people disagree with what quite frankly, are neat, but nonetheless bullshit articles. and how dare you tell people who are willing to go out and actually by the comics, how you think their favorite superheroes should be presented, and then ignore them when they tell you in fact your supposedly reasoned arguments are nonsense. Being well formated doesn´t make your articles revolutionary.

Dude it's coming out in 3 years. They are focusing on one film for 3 years. Three years is plenty of time to make it good." - Levitukuz

That is not an argument, that is YOUR fatuous opinion.

And before you say write an article myself, I have, and it was put straight into the features. Bad article, period.
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 4:46 PM
AvengerFan is a 9 year old retard that hates on anything comic related that isn't Marvel and labels any other hero team an Avengers rip off. Oh yes, because I forgot, the Avnegers came first in 1963, while the Justice League was the stupid and desperate rip off by DC, what was it again? Oh yes, 1960.

Face it you annoying brat, it's gonna happen, it isn't an Avengers rip off and no one here likes annoying little children.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 4:52 PM
"Why Some Reasons Why" - Title of Levitikuz article. Another great example of your editorial skills. Why your my hero.

I´m sure you´ll quote me in your next piece.
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 4:52 PM
So aresww3. Are you going to include how you would like things done? Not having a go at you, merely wondering. I'm impartial at the moment to which decision is best.

If so, be careful the way you word it, some tend to rage like children over the very mention of DC Shared Universe.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 5:02 PM
@Darklypse - I personally don´t mind how they do it, as long as a byproduct isn´t one of two things.

1 - It´s so embarrassingly bad that only comic fans will watch it, legitimizing the notion that only Superman and Batman are worth investing money in.

2 - They don´t put the origin stories of WW, The Flash, and MMH in it (or any other fans favorite, like I don´t like Aquaman that much, but if I was an Aquaman fan I´d be pissed if they skirt over his origin in the JL movie) because it will mean we can´t get a proper solo origin story after for other characters who deserve it. May be they can work backwards. But again I doubt that will be the case.

As long as they do this for the right reasons, not just the money (what am I saying ofcourse that´s why they´re doing it) and don´t encourage the view that Superheroes and their comics are just for children then good luck to them. But i´m highly skepitical. Does that answer your question?
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 5:06 PM
Also, it´s always a good sign when artists like Nolan, Burton, or Snyder approach the studio with an idea first. Those are always the best movies. When it´s a studio movie and not a personal one, that means the talent is just guns for hire rather than people passionate about the characters.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 5:06 PM
and having a story they want to tell about the character.
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 5:07 PM
Hm. True. Some bring up good points that makes me think it will work then I look at the other side and all I can imagine is an awful, PC Justice League film that tries to be hip and cool and all that shit. Place Megan Fox as Wonder Woman and they will of dug their own grave all the way to the Earth's core...
Darklypse - 10/20/2012, 5:07 PM
And Wonder Woman film? Because out of the characters we need to see from DC, I'm interested in her the most. Then Green Lantern, then Flash.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 5:13 PM
@Levitikuz - "No I don't read comics as a kid and I've admitted to it hundreds of times. I grew up on the animated series. I want to see the White Martian story for this film because it introduces everyone and tells origins of MM & WW."

Niether is an accurate origin of MMH or WW and I´ll be super pissed off if they use that as the origin of these characters, and just spin off into sequels. They both deserve their own movies, and a modern treatment of them. The WW animated film shows how cool her story could be as a stand alone, and that will be [frick]ed up by a JL movie.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 6:00 PM

"And Wonder Woman film? Because out of the characters we need to see from DC, I'm interested in her the most. Then Green Lantern, then Flash."
That´s what I think. I´m sorry, but if DC brings out a series of films that treat Flash, WW, MM, GL or even Aquaman with the level of respect they gave Batman Begins (and Man Of Steel by the looks of it) then Marvel can go [frick] themselves if they think DC´s copying them, because really they´ll just have made a more original series. (And I like Marvel. Just no the thier movies) Honestly I wouldn´t mind if they tried to do Kingdom Come, then go backwards, but I just doubt their going to do that. That would be good though, I´d support something like that.
FrozenJoy - 10/20/2012, 6:28 PM
I agree with some of your comments regarding LEVITIKUZ, but at least have some respect for his editorials. Sure, I tend to disagree with him most of the time, but have some [frick]ing respect!!!

aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 6:47 PM
@Avengeers - I´d have respect if he had respect for other people. Trust me I read through his comments. Including ones to you.

@Levitikuz - If you want me to advertise my far superior article in yours I will:

Read a real article by an actual comic fan you twat.

Remember buddy you dissed a little joke "batman rap" article I did, cause your sooooo superior, rallying your little adolescent troops, when this is the best you can come up with. It was my second article and I just deleted it cause you guys can´t take a joke.

aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 6:54 PM
Oh and by the way last two last things, why didn´t you answer Battlinmurdoch when he straight out asked you if you plagerised your last article on JL? To quote him "Also, did you steal this "editorial" from WhatCulture?

It's awfully similar to this article:

Like...RIDICULOUSLY similar."

Heres a link to the article if anyone wants to see just how hard Levitikuz works on his articles.
aresww3 - 10/20/2012, 6:56 PM
Anyone who wishes to compare to the article below by Levitikuz, please feel free.

"Editorial: 10 Things That Need To Be In The Justice League Movie

LEVITIKUZ's writes his last editorial on the Justice League film. This editorial focuses more on what I would like to see in the film. Moments, scenes, characters, and more. Check it out."

And I do like the JL animated series, I just like the comics more.
Facade - 10/20/2012, 7:17 PM
When MOS sucks, the CBM world will beg to have Superman recast. If it turns out decent, then I will eat crow.
MrReese - 10/20/2012, 7:21 PM
Y don't they just keep making JL movies instead of breaking off into solo films....becuz Marvel did it. Just make a JL trilogy or series of films. They don't have 2 copy Marvels formula.I'd rather c more JL movies as I'm sure every1 would like 2 c an Avengers trilogy back 2 back, instead of waiting 4 the solos 2 come out & then wait 4 the sequel.
