Those who have been following my 100 Days of Superheroes will know what this is all about. I’m currently reviewing and ranking 100 superhero films over the course of a year, building up to the release of Amazing Spider-Man, Dark Knight Rises, and Avengers.
Here is how it works. The ranking is determined by two factors; the average audience ranking (by poll votes) combined with my own score for the films in the reviews I wrote. These rankings will be posted every ten reviews so be sure to vote. As more votes and movies are added to the ranking, films will slide up and down on the scale.
You can also go back and vote on previous films already ranked as it could change their score in future updates. So if you don't like the ranking GO VOTE!!! Just click the 100 Days Logo to the Fansite to both vote and read the reviews. So let's get started!
Newly Ranked:
#22- Sky High:
Disney is not known for their high quality live action films so when a semi decent one like Sky High makes the scene, it is a blessing in and of itself for the parents. Sky High is a fast and often times funny kids film that unfortunately gets worse with each act. Yet, all the same there is enough here to be enjoyed, as readers voted it to a solid 67.78%.
Ranked At: 58.9%
#28- Superman Returns:
Here is a film that has always gotten mixed reception. Some may applaud it as a tribute to the Donner Era of Superman while others feel it’s slow and monotonous. Readers showed their devided opinions with a 55.43%, which brings it close to my initial score. One thing cannot be denied though. Love it or hate it, it’s certainly an improvement over Superman 3 and 4.
Ranked At: 52.72%
#35- Blade Trinity:
Where the first two films have been looked at to have helped Marvel find it’s footing in the modern age Blade Trinity is a lackluster mess that suffers from bad acting, un uninspired plot, and a non threatening villain. Readers were slightly kinder than I was with a 49. 65% ranking.
Ranked At: 44.8%
#40- Fantastic Four:
Where the first fantastic four film failed due to a lack of budget, this new one fails from a lack of script. Fantastic Four isn’t a horrible film but certainly an uninspired one. Readers voted it at a 48. 95% Kids may dig it but there isn’t much substance to really get excited about.
Ranked At: 39.48%
#44- X-Men: The Last Stand
Hopes were high for this closing of the first trilogy. After the first two came out so well no one was really wanting this villain overloaded special effects presentation. Well….I should say that. Readers did vote it in at 4.95%. Still, Last Stand may have some impressive action scenes but the scene loses it’s appeal when it forgets its characters.
Ranked At: 37.98%
#46- Legend of Zorro:
Also coming in low on the totem poll is the sequel to Mask of Zorro, a film that brought a new spark of life to the time old character Zorro. Unfortunately Legend is quick extinguish that spark with a lack of plot and a lame villain. It doesn’t help that half the film is just a marital spat between Zorro and his wife. Readers were FAR kinder than I was with a 49.5% ranking. Then again people tend to confuse this films title with the original and I choose to believe that is the case here.
Ranked At: 34.75
#54- Elektra:
Barely missing out on the bottom 5 category is the abomination of Elektra. No one wanted a Daredevil spin off, no one wanted to make one, and in the end it crashed at the box office because no one wanted to see one on. Readers showed it little mercy with a 38.48% rating. Elektra’s one saving grace is that it’s easy to forget it exists.
Ranked At: 24.24%
THE TOP TEN COUNTDOWN!!!!
#10- Batman Returns
Falling from it’s place at #8 last week is Tim Burton’s sequel to his first film. Unfortunately Darkman, Unbreakable, and the original Batman all saw the end of their long run in the top ten this round. Yet Batman Returns clings for what is certain to be its final turn with the big dogs.
Ranked At: 76.8%

#9- X-Men United
Also falling quite a ways in what many people consider to be the best of the X-Men series. Previously ranked at #7, X-Men United is a great blend of action and well developed characters. With a surprisingly good story at its core, this one is a winner.
Ranked At: 80.88%
#8- The Rocketeer
Rocketeer continues it’s slow and steady decline on the list of the Top Ten, this round falling from #6. The Rocketeer is a great send up to the classic WWII era characters with a style reminiscent of Indiana Jones.
Ranked At: 82.3%
#7- Superman: The Movie
Keeping a strong footing in the Top 10 is Richard Donner’s classic that jump started it all. The film fell from the #5 spot but considering it has been in the top 10 since day one, that’s an accomplishment alone.
Ranked At: 85.24
#6- The Mask of Zorro
Continuing strong is the restart of the Zorro series that unfortunately quickly died when the second film came out. Mask of Zorro though is a great example of what can be done to continue a story rather than rebooting it. It’s a fantastic revenge tale that does a great origin.
Ranked At: 88%
#5- Spider-Man 2
Though I may be a critic of the other two raimi films, there is no doubt that Spider-Man 2 is one of the finest superhero films ever made. Though the main cast may not be my cup of tea the story is well crafted, the villain well cast, and the action is bigger and better than the first.
Ranked At: 88.33%
#4- Robocop
I am still shocked at how high up the list this is. Robocop was finally kicked off it’s throne of #2 for five rounds in a row. Though I expected several films to top it, Robocop may be an old hero but he is still a bad ass motherf**ker.
Ranked At: 89.4%
#3- Batman Begins
One of the two newcomers that is very high up on the list. It also has one of the highest readers rankings of 96.67%, second only to The Crows score. Batman Begins is one of the better made origin stories that manages to tell a great crime story while at the same time revamping a one of the biggest superhero names.
Ranked At: 93.23
#2-The Incredibles
Taking the number two spot that was previously help by Robocop is none other than (gasp) a family film. Yet when it has the name Pixar attacked to it, that’s not so much of a surprise anymore is it. Reads voted it up with an overwhelming 95.7%. The Incredibles is a great film that balances action, comedy and drama for adults and children alike.
Ranked At: 95.4%
#1- The Crow
Still holding the first place spot is The Crow. It is a mean machine that is not easily toppled. Even The Incredibles, the first film to get as high of a review from me, did not beat it out. People place your bets, it looks like The Dark Knight might be the only one to beat this one out!
