Anthony Head To Play 'Chiron' In PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE SEA OF MONSTERS

The former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star has signed on to replace Pierce Brosnan as Chiron in the upcoming adaptation of the second Percy Jackson novel, set to hit theaters next year.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Anthony Head - seen in The Iron Lady and the TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer - has been cast as 'Chiron' in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters, a sequel to the 2010 fantasy film The Lighting Thief and an adaptation of the second book in the popular Percy Jackson novel series. Chiron, who is in charge of Camp Half-Blood, was played by Pierce Brosnan in the first film. Head joins returning cast members Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson and Jake Abel, as well as new additions such as Nathan Fillion (Hermes).

The first title in the franchise grossed $226.5 million at the worldwide box office in 2010. Thor Freudenthal (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid) will direct the sequel. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski penned the script; Chris Columbus, who directed The Lightning Thief, will produce with Karen Rosenfelt and Michael Barnathan.



Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea Of Monsters hits theaters March 27th, 2013. Below is a plot summary for the novel:

When Thalia's tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magical item powerful enough to save the camp before monsters overrun it. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover. He also learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse.

Loved him in Buffy and as Uther Pendragon in the Merlin series. He should do well in the role.

Okay I like Anthony Head and all but this doesn't seem right! They couldn't find Timothy Daltonor something? Chiron is the trainer of heroes. He should look as such, and Giles doesn't scream badass, sorry.

BOOBS!!!!

i didnt hate the 1st one, but it wasnt good, im glad they are doing a 2nd to hopefully make up for the 1st, just like clash of the titans is.

The first was TERRIBLE but with him and Nathan Fillion cast I will totally see it. Just for them though. I have a love for actors from Whedon shows and movies :D

I actually really liked Brosnan as Chiron, too bad he leaves with no clear reason. Head could be cool, though, but I've never seen him before, so....anyway, it's Diary OF a Wimpy Kid, but whatever, I guess. :P
