Don't most of us just say "Ninja Turtles" or TMNT anyway? Not a big deal. No one was pissed Thor wasn't The "Mighty" Thor. You guys get pissed over the most minuscule stuff. Like Thor's helmet.

That Crap Tv Series with a 5th ninja turtles (with boobs) was also called Ninja Turtles, and look how well that show turned out

"Ninja Turtles" isn't a bad title . . . I wish, however, that it had the full title. Someone is going to shoot Bay, I can just smell it.

@Ceejay
A grown man who dresses up like a Bat is silly
A teenager that gets bit by a spider and gains arachnid like powers is silly.
Aquaman...
Alot comics have a sillyness to them, be we still love them. TMNT actually has some dark and serious storylines but because of the 80's and 2000's cartoons the series is often seen as kiddy.

^I didnt even know there was a 5th Turtle. I'd like to thank myself for subconsciously not allowing myself to even go near something like that!

Has anyone read the IDW comic? They mutate over the course of a year so they're not teenagers in that either.

Why won't they just go dark like the original comics. It's a departure from the norm yet something established...

@Ceejay Yeah, they were created as a joke. It was a parody of Daredevil. It was intended to be a lame concept (since everything Marvel did involved radioactive materal). The cartoon made it popular. It's why I liked it as a kid. I appreciate the comic but still prefer the original animated series and would prefer a film closer to that. I wasn't fond of the alien stuff they did on the more recent Fox series, though it didn't irk me since I'm an adult. I don't care what film they make, but I'd welcome something close to what I loved about them. If they don't then I don't have to watch.

The original comics weren't as dark and gritty as everyone thinks.

They were nothing ilke the 80s/90s cartoon but they weren't Frank Miller dark

I read about this two days ago. To me- this move infuriates me more than the alien aspect. With so many changes- they should just rewrite this as an original idea instead.

If you can get past the basic absurdity of Turtle characters anyway - note this - in science a mutation is something that only happens once. And there's four of them - all the same. But hey, who's counting?

Nick56 - 3/24/2012, 9:44 AM
Im pretty sure the director said that THE OOZE IS WHAT IS ALIEN. Therefore the Turtles are still mutants.

Im fine with the title NINJA TURTLES cause I called them that all the time when I was younger, but as for as the whole alien thing, Ill accept that ONLY if the ooze that mutates them and splinter is alien.

John Carter's title change at least had some grounding in story since he wasn't technically OF Mars at that point and their idea was the second would be titled John Carter of Mars. This is just a way to cover their ass by taking egregious liberties with an established property. Why take a property with a massive following and then slap them in a face to draw in a new audience who it's been proven time and again don't want it? The people who buy Turtles products these days are overwhelmingly fans who were there from the beginning or from the cartoon show.
