This September will mark the one year anniversary of DC Comics' "The New 52" relaunch, and apparently the company is planning something special. Bleeding Cool has learned that for September, all 52 comic books will be numbered #0 instead of #13 (which will run in October). The zero issues will act as prequels to the first issues of their respective series, consisting of flashbacks, origins, etc. Instead of one month later, for example, it's more like five years earlier. Says Bleeding Cool, "This might be the perfect opportunity, say, in Batgirl to show what happened in South Africa. Justice League to show disparate superheroes working a case, but who never meet. Batman, to see where the Owls were the night that the Waynes were murdered. Stuff like that." Additionally, the site notes that there may be "some creator credit surprises" for these issues.

Do you plan on checking out the zero issues for DC's New 52 titles in September?

...What? #0. they can take place before with out a bassakwards numbering system. if they wanna do this thing again are they gonna go negative?
jarel93 - 4/19/2012, 2:09 PM
@JackDexx This is why people had so much trouble with DC during their multiple Earths years. There was too much confusion and a stupid amount of events like this. It was too hard to follow and they were unnecessarily taking measures to make it even harder.
MassExecutions - 4/19/2012, 2:15 PM
@JackDexx - Oh, they'll go negative. They'll go negative like a contentious presidential campaign. They'll do ANYTHING to get sales numbers like they had right after this event.

Good look for DC

Wish they would go back to their original numbering. They had some really high numbers with titles like Action and Detective.

bit of a money grab but that's okay, there are so many good books. if you are a marvel troll but actually open minded, try out (in order of favorites), 1) Animal Man, 2) Swamp Thing, 3) Batwoman, 4) Stormwatch, 5) Blue Beetle and 6) Birds of Prey. All really, really solid to eff'in brilliant.

on the marvel side i recommend, 1) Daredevil (obviously), 2) Punisher, 3) The Incredible Hulk and 4) Uncanny X-Men. All are about 10 issues in so if you want to start from the beginning you don't have to go back too far.

There are lots of good indies too of course. Manhattan Projects, Fatale and Superbia come to mind.

Oh, and the Avenging Spider-Man is good too

Cool. Sucks that this won't be included in the first graphic novels though.

I like this a lot. DC seems to have a real over-all plan for their universe. No more retcons..No more writers tripping over each other. One solid unit telling stories.
Now if only they could get the film division more like that...

This is a great idea!

SAD SAD SAD!!! That's all I have to say...didn't they do up this back in the 90s??? OH YEAH they did..

Sales didn't last as long as they thought eh? so now it's up for the next money grab.
oldnoname - 4/19/2012, 7:37 PM
I'm not really understanding how it is a money grab but idk I still want to read them.
drewXdeficit - 4/19/2012, 8:09 PM

Not crazy about the silly numbering nonsense, but I will buy what I'm already buying monthly. And I'll be very tempted to add Action Comics or Batman to the list.

Brewtownpsyche's got good taste - Animal Man and Batwoman are simply fantastic reads with superb visuals and great characters.

@Just1superguy

I love when people say stuff like that and it's like...no. You're an idiot.
SteveRogersSon - 4/20/2012, 10:36 PM
Idiots abound....right Just1SuperDouche

"Hopefully we get a little insight as to how Flash's Rogues got their changes." - Froggy

I agree, I have really been wanting them to expound on Captain Cold at some point.
