By Paul Romano - 9/10/2012

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

Many thanks to @IrishAvengerCBM for the heads up.

Arrow premieres on The CW October 10th at 8 PM.

Been hearing some good reports coming out about this show, so even though I am still a little bit skeptical I am willing to give it a chance

So John Barrowman of Torchwood fame, was on The Nerdist podcast last week and he hinted that he was playing batman/Bruce Wayne in the Arrow series. He's listed in the credits as "A Well Dressed Man" to hide the identity. Barrowman described the character as a "pivotal role".
SciFiLuvr - 9/10/2012, 6:41 PM
John Barrowman? Does this mean I can cross my fingers for Bruce/Oliver mackin'? Yeah, baby.
LegacyFilms - 9/10/2012, 6:59 PM
I kinda hope Batman does appear, but I also hope he doesn't, because I'm not sure they can do him justice, but I won't assume anything until I see more. The other half of me wants to see him because I know we won't see my favorite hero in live action for a few years. Speaking of Batman :)

This looks good. I just hope Green Arrow doesn't morph into Daniel Jackson from Stargate.
Minghagz - 9/10/2012, 8:29 PM
Can't wait for this. The more news and footage I see the better it seems.

Well, it's safe to say Smallville this is NOT. It'd probably more appropriate for a Bruce Wayne cameo (which will probably happen when hell freezes over).
nitecraller - 9/11/2012, 9:11 AM
Just because John Barrowman is gay in real life does not mean anything about the characters he plays, @scifiluvr.

@owlman...I hope you fail...Granted, Green Arrow is not one of my favorite characters, he's more entertaining than Aquaman! It's good to see somebody trying to do something that hasn't already been seen...it's a CW show so I'm sure it'll have its cheesy moments...can't be any worse than Smallville.
Pooh - 9/11/2012, 7:34 PM
Smallville had some good episodes.
