Mmm, the fact Treverrow is being so secretive and awkward about it by dodging the question makes me wonder. If he is discussing it with Disney and Lucasfilm, he's probably not allowed to reveal anything, so judging by what he said, I think and hope he's being considered to direct.

Of course the bigger directors DO NOT want any part of a new Star Wars feature film. They have very little to gain and a whole lot to lose. Think about it, if it does good then they are told yep should have done well it's Star Wars backed by Disney. If it fails they take a career step back as the guy that did a terrible job on Star Wars. And with only a roughly two year timeline to make it work, why take the chance. It's not about the prequels or the fact Lucas may or may not be involved it has everything to do with the fact the risk outweighs the reward.

It's such a daunting project to direct. Any director knows there is a legion of rabid fans that will scrutinize your every move. Can't wait to see how this unfolds!!

Del Toro is a great visual director but lacks greatly when it comes to getting a good performance from his actors. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, just my opinion.

Like I said before. I hope Disney hires Peter Jackson as the director of Star Wars.

Del Toro's probably not the guy for Star Wars, anyway. At least not the first one. I think we need something more like A New Hope's classicism, before being individualistically stylish. Jedi was very Del Toro in it's design and tone, hither and thither. It'd be cool to see him do a rendition of Jabba's palace. But not Episode VII.

Am i the only one that thinks Del Toro is a completely overrated director?

Anyways, anyone hoping Nolan would do it count that out.. I doubt he'd ever do Star-War's.

Peter Jackson is a possibility though.

Ridley Scott wouldn't do it much better then Lucas himself.

An if anyone mentions Tim Burton he would turn Star-War's into a Gothic Soap opera, starring Johnny Depp as a new Sith.
