After his excellent performance as the villainous Sebastian Shaw in 2011's X-Men: First Class, Kevin Bacon will be returning to the comic book movie genre in this summer's R.I.P.D., which is based on the Dark Horse graphic novel of the same name. Speaking with Collider while promoting The Following, the actor talks briefly about his villain in the Universal-distributed supernatural comedy, saying that the role is much lighter than his character in the FOX TV series. "I was just looping R.I.P.D. Even if it was on a looping stage, it was just so fun to step into some other shoes for awhile. ... He’s a villain, but it’s much lighter. It’s funny. He’s a goofball. He turns into a zombie. He’s not a serial killer." With a July 19th release date set, expect the marketing campaign for R.I.P.D. to begin soon, so stay tuned to CBM for more news on the film. R.I.P.D. follows a cop killed in the line of duty and is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest In Peace Department, and then tries to find the man who murdered him. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Robert Knepper and Tobias Segal round out the cast of the film, which is directed by Robert Schwentke (RED).

I'm guessing the zombie/killer line is metaphorical...
CCB1984 - 1/21/2013, 2:00 PM
he's talking about all the characters such as Bridges/Reynolds being undead...

Wow, didn't hear about this since, like two years ago..
CCB1984 - 1/21/2013, 2:35 PM
@MB007 the production is rumored to have a bunch of issues mostly in the editing bay, hence the re-shoots.. not surprising since it's a comic book film with Ryan Reynolds in it.. he has a great track record being involved with terrible films like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Green Lantern and Blade Trinity..

Jeff Bridges is still sporting the weird beard so I assume it hasn't finished all the scenes just yet.. or is keeping incase they need more shots.

Say what you want about Reynolds but everyday he wakes up next to this beauty and enough with the hate the guy cant do anything if the scripts for his movies suck

@niklander just stating his record making these films.. I used to watch him back in the days of 2 Guys, A Girl And A Pizza Place.. I like him well enough I just him to stay away from comic book films cause they end up horrible..
CCB1984 - 1/21/2013, 4:31 PM
@niklander btw if we're taking Renyold's personal life.. he was sleeping with a producer on Pizza Place who got him the part along with others that could help him into making films.. got engaged to Alanis M. to give himself more of a profile among entertainment "reporters".. dumped her, married Scarlet Johansson for citizenship purposes (he's Canadian) then divorced her and will likely divorce Blake within a year or two.. because her show if off the air and will go into obscurity over lack of film roles..

Bacon's always been a steady actor who gets the job done. Glad to see him getting more film roles.
He was excellent in First Class.

ryan reynolds career is nowhere near as successful as it should be. the guy has a range that few other got, & he shoulda fired his business people a long damn time ago.

im not saying he's the next coming or anything, but he should have a much much more impressive resume. 'buried' for example, is just great stuff.

The Following wasn't bad at all. I forgot how good of an actor he can be.

This movie probably has CGI, unless they had a lot of characters who need heavy makeup. It easy to critize Ryan but the movies you named "Blade" and "Wolverine"" he was not the star and many would agree, that he was the best part of those movies. In the minds of folks who don't like him can they make the case of him ruining a movie. He introduced the character "Green Lantern" to a world where not many people outside of the comic book genre were familiar with. We saw batman and superman for years, but not the Green Lantern, could it have been a better script "YES" was Ryan bad "NOT BY A LONG SHOT" and to the person who said he was sleeping with a producer. Well if you know this much about him, I would suspect you would not be here posting on this board, you more than likely would be a close friend, family member or ex-anything, this is waaaay too personal for a fan AND you really "INSULT" women.
