DEBUNKED: First Set Photo from The Dark Knight Rises?

Is the "spy photo" of Arkham Asylum a sign of things to come? Maybe, but it's nothing we haven't seen before...

Our own Josh Wilding recently reported on a story from Batman-News about a "spy photo" that appeared to be of Arkham Asylum and speculation had it as the first set photo from The Dark Knight Rises. Well, it turns out that it is the facade of Arkham, but it was actually from Batman Begins and may or may not appear in The Dark Knight Rises. Here's the original and updated information from Batman-News:

Original

Has the first photo from the The Dark Knight Rises set been revealed? A member of the JoBlo forums has posted a photo of the Arkham Aslyum set and said “my good mate who is working on set at cardington where it’s being shot sent me this”. The photo appears to be legit, and we’ve heard they’ll be shooting in the Cardington hangars. Check out the full photo after the break and judge for yourself.

Update

Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex sent me a tweet to help clear up some of the confusion around this photo. What we’re looking at is the Arkham Aslyum set that appeared in 2005′s Batman Begins. In fact, Boucher stood on the steps of Arkham when he visited the Inception set back in 2010. Arkham Asylum could very well make its return in The Dark Knight Rises, but the set pictured here has been standing for at least six years.

SuspenseSmith - 2/15/2011, 12:14 AM
lol hasn't changed. Just let it sitting there, huh? Why build it again if you plan on using it again in the first place?
thewolfx - 2/15/2011, 12:20 AM

TheBatman938865 - 2/15/2011, 12:23 AM

MightyThor1 - 2/15/2011, 12:29 AM
We're really all addicted diends for this movie and are goin to continue to be until this movie comes out!

@grif screw your reboot lame brain!!!
MightyThor1 - 2/15/2011, 12:29 AM
Its Nolan Verse over here!!!
JoshWilding - 2/15/2011, 1:57 AM
Well, I'll be damned. I had a feeling it was just TOO soon for them to have completed sets built after that interview I posted with Michael Caine where he said the script still wasn't completed. Wonder why they've saved it all this time? Good stuff Brent!

@JoshW: Like Gaston said above, if they're going to use it in subsequent movies, why tear it down?

@grif: Yeah, I'm not crazy about Catwoman being in this and I'm no fan of Anne "The Devil Wears Prada" Hathaway, but Tom Hardy as Bane is s-i-c-k! Forget that steroid monstrosity from Batman & Robin: the Bane in the original DC one-shot was cold, calculating and very smart.
marvel72 - 2/15/2011, 2:07 AM
oh well, not the end of the world.
BlackRobin98 - 2/15/2011, 2:43 AM
well that sure does look absolutely NOthing like the Arkham in the movie. If you guys remember in the movie it looked like an old (20years plus) yet modern (modern meaning not antique architecture) HOSPITAL. Whereas this looks like an old bank or office building or something. Maybe its showing a different entrance/side of the building b/c I've seen the movie mad times as many of you and I don't remember seeing anything like that in the Narrows. But like I mentioned in the other article, maybe its a place for Bane ot break out of!! lol Guys I just can not WAIT to see him done in this movie! Not only Nolanized but just done justice on film PERIOD (by people like Goyer/Nolan ppl with a healthy respect and drive of&by the comics) Am I the only one who is can't-sit-down excited to see Bane done right on film and Catwoman (Hathaway in tights) is just an icing on the cake bonus? Bring on (atleast a SLIHGT) Knightfall type spin/nod of respect! (they don't have to interpret the whole story and every aspect to use some of its soul)
BlackRobin98 - 2/15/2011, 2:51 AM
imnotahero and The Batman did call this. And Grif, no body cares about your petty witching. You'll get a reboot,....in like a decade or so. Batman is one of the most pricess franchises there is, they will continue doing it well after Nolan, well after us! And you suc for recycling comments, I mean be original man, you're almost as bad as that vital loser both of you lose your 'vital' signs LOL. Hey BSprecher; doohde, I wouldn't call him a 'steroid' freak (God bless the dead, God bless his fam) b/c his build SUCKED. It was one of those need2retire wrestler builds. I mean he had a truckers belly, c'mon now, what a terrible cast. We should also keep in mind that in some of the later comics Bane is only a size or so larger and builter than Batman himself. And is agile and can really move more so like a martial artist. So vein popping 'constructicon' Bane is NOT the ONLY one known to man. Lastly, unless he is going to 'Knightfall'-BREAK Bruce in this film (which of course wont' happen) then he REALLY doesent NEED to be beastly huge. Any thoughts guys? (and yes my comments are long, I prefer the term thorough, everyone has a gimmick, thats mine, this isn't twitter. I mean look at the guy above me,..LOL) but 4real what do you guys think?
BlackRobin98 - 2/15/2011, 2:52 AM
TELL him Batmanfan8383, so what do you think of my thoughts? and what are you thoughts on the Nolan franchise and a Bane/Cat sequel BatmanFan8383 and every1e4else. Also my comments ^

@BlackRobin98: That was just the main entrance, and then the rest of Arkham was CGI'd in around it (or matted in, but probably CGI'd).

And, no, I wasn't talking about the actor's build in B&R, but in the way they made him all veins-a-poppin', focusing on his "venom" instead of on his smarts and fighting prowess.

@Emeraldknight85: It's pointless. Grif is the perma-cynic. I think I've only read one positive comment from him over the years and I can't even remember what it was for (the Thing remake, perhaps?). That's okay. He's the Yin to the overly-Yang CBMers on here!
bsprecher - 2/15/2011, 3:04 AM
@Gaston: Ah, I stand corrected. That's cool.
bsprecher - 2/15/2011, 3:07 AM
And, in only a matter of minutes, I stand corrected a second time: Grif likes Sucker Punch and Battle: Los Angeles!
NotU - 2/15/2011, 5:46 AM
I think a better way to criticize what this movie 'could become'
is to assess how much time it will take to tell a story w/ so many
characters. taking into consideration that bane's role will be the obvious one.
dcraig007 - 2/15/2011, 6:40 AM
I regocnized it too... damn, that grif does not know anything....! But still, i am waiting news according to Robin Williams, for Batman 3. Maybe he is Hugo...
Christuffer - 2/15/2011, 8:07 AM
Grif has a little wiener. Thats why he never responds to forum posts about his sucky attitude
Godzillafart - 2/15/2011, 8:48 AM
Debunked: Christian Bale does a good job as Batman.
Betty - 2/15/2011, 8:58 AM
That pic of batman reminded me of how silly he looks in the nolanverse. he's got gay jaw muscles.
Godzillafart - 2/15/2011, 9:10 AM
Betty, they needed to add those gay jaw muscles to the cowl because Bale has no jaw.
GrimeKid - 2/15/2011, 9:18 AM
It's quite strange for a studio to keep a set even if they are planning on re-using it.
Most studio's destroy all the sets even when they know for sure that they'll need them again.
They usually just rebuild them from photo's they take when the original set is erected (Ha Ha, Erected)

So I can't even imagine why they would keep that set unless it cost a f.uck-load to construct or something
leo888 - 2/15/2011, 11:37 AM
Old pic...But still looks great...
DukeAcureds - 2/15/2011, 2:04 PM
Damn. I debunked this on the last article, but you guys already debunked it yesterday? We all saw this on JoBlo and Batman-on-film in 2004.
