Bat Fans Rejoice: Christopher Nolan is Back for Batman 3!

The Dark Knight director drops out of The Prisoner to focus on the next installment in the Batman Begins reboot franchise.
Did I get your attention? Good. Now, before you get too excited, let me clarify...

While there has been no official studio announcement that director Christopher Nolan will return for a third installment of the new Batman franchise. A recent announcement purports that Nolan is leaving the production of The Prisoner to focus on development of the next Batman film.

Back in June, actor Christian Bale lamented that he is obligated to appear as Bruce Wayne/Batman in a third Batman movie, but that Nolan had no such contract stipulation to direct.

"I truly don't know that we're ever going to see another Batman movie. It would be purely that (Nolan) would need to find a story that was good enough and if he couldn't find that it wouldn't happen."

Bale went on to say that he didn't want to consider playing Batman without Nolan at the helm.

"I don't even want to think about that. I don't know if there will be a third."

HAWK- i think you're on to something there fellah!

And i would be delighted if he came back for the third and final instalment before Batsy goes DC. But i'd like this film to be "another day in the life of" kinda concept. I don't really want to see a direct sequel to TDK. He'll never top it. It should be concidered as a stand alone film IMO.

@ozy! I'm curious to see zac snyder take on a project that is original. 300 AND Watchmen were amazing movies, but really all he did was use the book for storyboard(which was a brilliant idea) But I wanna see some of this mans ideas. Bring him in!!!!

Yeah i've read some info on suckerpunch! Sounds like it could be a good one. But as for original ideas I meant a comic book movie that isnt a graphic novel story. So I wanna see him do an orginal batman story, or any character would be cool.

an announcement by whom?? again, this does not mean he left prisoner for batman. it isn't confirmed by anyone or thing.

They could just call the new one Batman 3, The Dark Knight Returns comes to mind, but I don't know if they would go for that.

Riddler main villain, called in to help with the manhunt for Bats, gets obsessed, you know the rest. If they can fit Catwoman in there without it feeling crowded and making that story feel important to the movie, then bring in Catwoman.

The third installment should be titled "Shadow Of The Bat"! Focusing on Bruce's struggle to try and escape the spectre of Batman that keeps him from moving on in his personal life...LEEE777 - I suggested Deathstroke and Deadshot in an older post; maybe create a two-part story continuing in the 4th film.

Deadshot would be cool to see, but he isn't enough to be a major character. Something along the lines of Scarecrow's role in TDK would suit Deadshot, but a bit longer.

OSCURO and KillerOfSaints - all of these ideas would work over a two picture arc! if you check my posts under older Batman 3 articles, you'll see the story idea I had involving The Riddler, Hush, Penguin, Robin, Bane, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Batgirl, Catwoman, Dr. Langstrom AND possibly Croc! With this many characters involved, it would have to be a multi-picture story, but very intricate and detailed!

The idea is to not give ALL the players equal screen time, but to use them just enough to advance the plot! That way, many characters can fit into two films without having to give each one a leading role! Make it an ensemble that focuses on Bruce, Gordon, Grayson and Lucious, with all the others getting involved at key points!

Movies only get bogged down with too many roles when the filmmakers try to give each one an origin! We wouldn't need origins for the assassins, and the others' could potentially be expanded on in future installments/spin-offs!

Anything more than 3 villains, even as cameos is most likely over doing it. If you consider doing a multi-movie arc at this point, you can almost guarantee Nolan will not be a part of this project. I expect this movie to end his directorial role in the franchise, meaning he'll want to tie up his loose ends, not leave them vastly open. Nolan is a contained director; ie: he wants the substance in the film to stand on its own two feet. So no, you will not be seeing a rogue's gallery of villains in this film. With that said, Mad Hatter, controlling a vigilante Bane hunting TDK. Call it Knightfall.

nolan may have made an effort to base batman in reality, but this super hero is smothered in it. batman is in all of us, the same with any bat villian. batman the ringleader with his sideshow of freeks who are tryin to survive in a world that has unseen evil. we apreceiated the dark knight perspective that showed the mysterious side of the grinning stranger only known as the JOKER. when we watch jack nicholson i have to turn on the mute and pretend jack napier doesn't exist."the first working homicidal artist" flew over the rockie mountains decades ago. we need more si-fi horror if we are expected move on to great batmovie maddness.
