Some of the transcript that can be heard in the video:
"I think Gordon looks at [Blake] and sees himself from 20 years before. There's something very moving about that. It lets you contrast these wise old souls, these guys who are burdened and jaded with the events of the past film, with this youthful idealism, these breaths of fresh air. You're dealing with a story that very specifically picks up eight years after the events of the last film. Time has moved on, but our protagonists haven't. Bruce Wayne has shut himself away in self-imposed exile. He's hung up the cape and cowl, but he hasn't moved on. The characters around him are trying to support him in whatever he's doing, but they're somewhat frozen."

The Dark Knight Rises is directed by Christopher Nolan(The Prestige, Inception) and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, and Anne Hathaway. The film will be unleashed upon audiences on the 20th of this month.

I still have a problem believing he would stop being Batman or that he wuld put A [frick]ING GUN on the Bat but maybe the movie will explain it and I'm sure it will be awesome.

In these movies I could see him leaving his persona because of the shame brought to Batman's name after the death of Dent. Having guns on the Bat is alright because there were guns on the Tumbler and the Bat-Pod.
Jollem - 7/12/2012, 5:40 AM
it's mirroring batman being in retirement and having guns on his bat tank in the Dark Knight Returns
stealthboy - 7/12/2012, 5:47 AM
@grif - you're not even trying anymore... come on, you can do better than that!

JGL WILL BECOME BATMAN AT THE END OF THE MOVIE

Every Batvehicle from the comics, movies and television shows has had guns and rockets.

Batman has hung the cowl up multiple times in the comics. It is a little saddening that Nolan's Bruce hung up the cowl after about 3 years of Batman but it fits perfect with the story. athose three years were his prime years and he made quite impression on Gotham. If Nolan was making four films, a Riddler Based film woukd have been awesome film between tdk & TDKR to show the more detective side and give Bruce more time as Batman in theestablished universe.
googleplex - 7/12/2012, 6:38 AM
that's a good thought. wonder if nolan got the idea of the name from that kid in the comic or if it's just a wierd coincidence.
bestintheworld - 7/12/2012, 6:41 AM
I hope Batman has to pull over for gas while he's flying The Bat. Bruce standing there at a 7-11 holding the gas pump...Catwoman inside picking out snacks....priceless.
MovieMann - 7/12/2012, 6:46 AM
@BestInTheWorld

Mabye in the Avengers 2 dude
Greengo - 7/12/2012, 6:55 AM
There can be guns with rubber bullets like in The Dark Knight Returns

People really need to stop being stupid, Nolans Batman isn't trying follow comic culture 125%, it's trying to 'realise' the concept of Batman in as real a world setting as possible within the genre.

1) This is why a grown man and fully trained cop called John Blake will have no ridiculous need to put on a costume and call himself Robin. He's just a new character!

2) Unlike comics main villains die, in this case Bruce sacrificed Batman as a murderer so that Harvey Dent would not die a villain and undo all the inspiration he gave to Gotham. Batman in the comics would not be allowed to do that because DC need to take your money every month.

3) The 8 year time-span is not important, what is important is that he could not return as Batman after labelling him self a murderer. He's a fugitive wanted by an entire city, not just a police division. The only way he can come back is by the city needing him to return, and this is that story!

@Ceejay I love you.
GuardianAngel - 7/12/2012, 9:01 AM
I think a reason that John Blake is in this movie (and this is what I think) is because all the other characters have grown older and been in Bruce Wayne's life for this whole 8 years. John Blake is supposed the audience in a way. He's a younger character who hasn't had any involvement with Bruce Wayne and is coming up after this 8 year gap with fresh eyes. He, like the audience is just being introduced to this world. In a way it's what Captain America was in The Avengers.
ManofSteel91 - 7/12/2012, 9:14 AM
Dredd wont even be able to touch the dark knight rises dark knight rises is gonna ba movie of the year for sure!
ManofSteel91 - 7/12/2012, 9:16 AM
Awesome input ceejay
CorndogBurglar - 7/12/2012, 9:28 AM
I've been saying it for months. John Blake gets shot and dies.
thisheart - 7/12/2012, 9:59 AM
Amen Ceejay
Ha1frican - 7/12/2012, 10:39 AM
Rubber bullets dont do much to vehicles last time i checked which is what they have shown in the trailers. Also he did have guns on the batpod now that i think about it and that kinda pisses me off. Granted he only used it once and that was to crack a window but still Batman wouldn't risk a stray bullet hitting a pedestrian. To be clear these are just minor gripes and i Love Nolan and i'm realy looking forward to TDKR :)
BruceKentJordan - 7/12/2012, 10:42 AM
Calling it now, John Blake is the boy from Batman Begins out on fire escape.
Hatsas01 - 7/12/2012, 11:24 AM
@Bruce
Are you talking about Prince Joffrey from GOT?
CoolantTech - 7/12/2012, 1:21 PM
@gaurdianAngel I agree with this, Blake is the audience's way in to the Batman world after this 8 year hiatus
Jollem - 7/12/2012, 2:51 PM
amen, and all that. but, who said nolan was trying to copy comic culture 125% ? who's being stupid and why is it stupid? fans speculate. they do that. it's fun and interesting sometimes to people. amen :)
Ship - 7/12/2012, 3:16 PM
Say it GRIF, SAY IT, you already have your ticket and you're gonna sit right in front of the screen, right in the middle.
Rockstar96 - 7/12/2012, 4:19 PM
TDKR is gonna be the best movie of all time.
siggisuperman - 7/12/2012, 4:22 PM
I actually can't wait to see Dredd. More excited for TDKR though, and i'm a whedonite
LorenzoVonMatterhorn93 - 7/12/2012, 4:25 PM
i wish at the end JGL takes the cowl however it seems from all trailers and spots he will actually be just a 'beat cop'.
JackBauer - 7/12/2012, 5:33 PM
He's Dick Grayson ;)
UrbanKnight - 7/12/2012, 7:29 PM
Im starting to think its a good idea to have this Blake character in the film. He sort of make the Batman seem even more legendary.
PerlaB4 - 7/17/2012, 4:31 AM
@Guardianangel im glad im not the only one who thought this. Especially because of what we've seen from the pictures & trailers etc. We can clearly tell this is someone new to gothem, has probably seen and heard about the past villains and incidents but has no idea what he's about to get himself into.
In a way he is like the audience.
