COMICS: Upcoming DREDD Digital Comic Prequel Announced; Cover Revealed

According to Comic Book Resources, a prequel to the upcoming flick starring Karl Urban is on its way, featuring characters from the film including the villain Ma-Ma (portrayed by Lena Headey). Also, a cool cover for the tie-in has been released. Get the details after the jump.

This August sees the release of a "DREDD 3D" digital comic prequel to the film, which will feature the first comics appearance of Ma-Ma -- the villainous prison warden played in the movie by "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey.

Today, CBR News has an exclusive first look at the digital story's painted cover by Greg Staples. The final story, written by 2000AD editor Matt Smith and approved by Dredd's co-creator John Wagner and "DREDD" screenwriter Alex Garland, will feature the interior art will be by Henry Flint – a longtime 2000AD artist so associated with the character, his surname is used for one of the cell blocks in the film.

any thing judge dredd is welcomed as this one iconic law bringer has been misshandled for quite a few years and realy deserves some good times.
the original judge dredd out of 2000ad comics was if you note a clint eastwood looking judge i see the shift to carl urban a good choice as his abilities as an actor are second to none and mr eastwood is too old now to be judge dredd sadly.
im hoping they keep his pistols abilities in the movie and modern comics, his pstol was one of those iconic things that made him different.
