Here are the first two shots of the “The Dark Knight Rises" shoot in Jodhpur, India. The photo looks like it was taken from the window of a moving train and shows the crew setting up a green screen for the shoot, which took place today. If you take a close look, it seems like there is a possibility of the Lazarus pit appearing in Chris Nolan’s upcoming final Batman film. Does that mean, that we will see more, than just a flashback of Ra's al Ghul?

The Lazarus Pit is mythical vats of arcane chemicals in the DC comics universe. The most common user of the pit is Ra's al Ghul. Ra's al Ghul accidentally discovered the first Lazarus Pit as a cure for the dying son of a sultan he worked for. The Pit had a terrible side effect, however; it turned the Prince temporarily insane, leading to him killing the doctor's wife. After being blamed for the murder, the man who would become Ra's Al Ghul was buried in the desert. He was rescued by a tribe and a boy named Huew. After this he used the Lazarus Pit to save himself, and vowed to avenge his wife. The doctor gave himself the title Ra's al Ghul - The Demon's Head

The Dark Knight is scheduled to hit cinemas July 20th, 2012.

...Lazarus Pit?
Wtf? Wow. Maybe it's just like a geizer, that doesn't really have any magical property.
tjbpinkfloyd - 5/6/2011, 10:28 AM
Who's hoarding the anti-freeze?!
StrangerX - 5/6/2011, 10:32 AM
lazarus pit...wtf
RABB1T - 5/6/2011, 10:37 AM
Lazarus pit for the scenes featuring young Ras. Makes sense, isn't he supposed to be in the movie anyways? (like flashbacks)
HaroldOfGalactus - 5/6/2011, 10:41 AM
but are they for sure flashbacks? or has Ra's been healed using the pit, reversing whatever damage may have been done on the monorail explosion?

Perhaps the pit can heal and reverse the effects of damage wounding blood loss fatigue and aging? It's like the ultimate botox spa.

what I'm getting at is are we 100% sure that its for flashbacks? or has Ra's healed his body to the prime of his youth?
jazzman - 5/6/2011, 10:43 AM
its not the The Lazarus Pit its my radioactive p!ss sorry guys LMAO
RABB1T - 5/6/2011, 10:46 AM
Yep, Harold you have good points there. We have no way of knowing for sure what is going on, Nolan is king at secrecy. I guess the one thing we should be thinking is, *Holy Hell! Lazarus Pit!*
MassExecutions - 5/6/2011, 10:56 AM
That THAT psuedo-realism!
nuck82 - 5/6/2011, 11:01 AM
IS THAT THE OOZE THAT MADE THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!!! the turtles are the new robin!!
imnotwearinghockeypants - 5/6/2011, 11:01 AM
Maybe they're using the Lazarus Pit to reincarnate Ras in the body of Bane? That'd be pretty stupid, but it's possible.
Supersonicboobs - 5/6/2011, 11:02 AM
*SIGH*................

Batman barely fits into Nolan's universe. If Nolan's universe doesn't evolve to fit the more supernatural and powered villains then it won't give us many stories.
blvdnoise - 5/6/2011, 11:03 AM
Hmmmm...
soberchimera - 5/6/2011, 11:07 AM
So a guy who can walk around with half his face burned off to the skull is perfectly plausible, but a vat of chemicals that restores a person's health is too farfetched???? C'mon guys Nolan's universe is realistic, but it's not THAT realistic.
Ghostt - 5/6/2011, 11:07 AM
there is only 1 more story to be told in Nolan-verse and it will be cool.
spidey1994 - 5/6/2011, 11:09 AM
I thought it was Kryptonite lol
Zorrgoth - 5/6/2011, 11:09 AM
I'm really curious to see where Chris Nolan goes with this movie. I hope it doesn't feel disconnected from the other movies.
Retardo - 5/6/2011, 11:10 AM
I would love it if it were true, it'd immediately elevate Batman 2 a more fantastical world where the Justice League can fit in, guess we're goin 2 have 2 just wait and see...
Nice find man! Check out my Spider-Man fan cast!
nuck82 - 5/6/2011, 11:15 AM
my only thought is that its venom for bane, but what do i know, jack and shit, thats what

Vital - 5/6/2011, 11:20 AM
It looks like Venom that Bane uses, like Nuck pointed out.
DarthTesla - 5/6/2011, 11:23 AM
Hopefully this turns out to be just a secret base entrance or something.
Lazarus Pit idea is cool, if a little bit silly for the Nolanverse. Then again, he's the person responsible for creating Inception, so it might not be that farfetched.

Just can't wait to see BANE!!!!
Spidex3000 - 5/6/2011, 11:25 AM
You guys are acting like a man, whose face is covered in oil and only half of it burns is realistic, come the c[frick] on. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Nolan taking a few more steps into what has been established in the comics for years, he's doing Bane for christsake.
fangz - 5/6/2011, 11:28 AM
i would love if they really do the lazarus pit. especially for this last one, it'd be nice if he left batman in a universe that was open to such things.

i think a lot of people want Batman to go a little more far out than what we've seen in the last two. nolan's films have been great, but there's more to Batman than that.
DarthTesla - 5/6/2011, 11:34 AM
Bane is definitely gonna be the x-factor of this movie. I think he's probably what most people are curious about, and with Tom Hardy, he's probably going to be an awesome addition to the movie.

Nolan hasn't let us down yet, he can turn silly/ridiculous/absurd into pure believable awesomeness.

Having said all that, I'm still kinda on the fence about the Lazarus Pit. We'll see.....
dboakley - 5/6/2011, 11:39 AM
1. thats definitely just a green screen in there

2. if that is the lazarus pit, yes it could either be for present or past, but it most likely will just be used as a gathering spot for the league of shadows not for any "mystical purposes" (I'd find it hard to believe nolan would go mystical after all this realism, he even wants the superman movie to be some what real) so just throwing in a magic pit of healing and life just doesnt go with him

3. bet you its just some sort of lava pit, volcano, hot springs, something like that that there gonna call the lazarus pit just to geek out fan boys.
trytan - 5/6/2011, 11:43 AM
It would be cool to see the laz. pit but I think it's probably the venom. Noloan probably combined the pit and venom in some way. Still very pumped for this movie.
HAQ - 5/6/2011, 11:43 AM
LMFAO Lazarus Pit in Nolan's Batman... riiiight...
GillytheKid33 - 5/6/2011, 11:44 AM
Clearly green screen and not green liquid. But who the hell knows. Maybe itll be the new entrance to the batcave...
MovieMann - 5/6/2011, 11:52 AM
Haha yeah right!
Ill believe that when I see it!
yankeemanf - 5/6/2011, 11:56 AM
i guarantee this is fake
balegirlbrazil - 5/6/2011, 12:02 PM
I think that is possible, the Lazarus Pit in the film, but in a more realistic type instead of rejuvenate or bring someone back to life, fleeing from reality, is used to cure a person.
Maybe Bane hurts Batman seriously and he is taken to the Lazarus Pit, which will heal all wounds him, making him to "rise", justifying the "Rises" in the title.
I see that possibility.
But maybe not.
SageMode - 5/6/2011, 12:05 PM
I doubt thats the Lazarus Pit. Its more than likely a pool Bane's Venom
BruceWayne001 - 5/6/2011, 12:07 PM
A CGI Lazarus Pit XD
BlackSun77 - 5/6/2011, 12:07 PM
That's a Lazarus pit. Do you think this is some strange way for Warners to introduce or inject the more fantastical elements of the DC Universe into the cinematic Universe????????????
BlackSun77 - 5/6/2011, 12:08 PM

FutureCBMHero - 5/6/2011, 12:08 PM
I bet it's just a green screen to make it look like a bottomless pit, something more minute than the Lazarus Pit.
BlackSun77 - 5/6/2011, 12:08 PM
Sorry don't know why it was repeated 3 times
Sorry
SentinelofLiberty - 5/6/2011, 12:13 PM
I think we ARE going to see a Lazarus Pit, just not the way we think of them. Dboakley is probably on to something, that there will be some volcano or spring or something, called the Lazarus Pit. The question as to whether it actually rejuvenates will be left open.

Don't forget the back and forth in Begins, when DuCard/Ras shows himself at Bruce's Bday. "IS Ras al Ghul immortal? Are his methods supernatural?" "Or merely cheap parlor tricks to conceal your true identity...Ras." When they talk about coming full circle, I think we're going to be left with some ambiguity again with respect to what is real and what is not real where Ras and the League of Shadows are concerned.

Oh, and PLEASE let Scarecrow have at least a scene or two in the movie! Dr Crane, FTW!
fullmetal - 5/6/2011, 12:24 PM
LAZURUS PIT!!!! AWESOME!
ckal - 5/6/2011, 12:24 PM
It's a pool of Venom that Bane rolls around in and grants him super powers
x2SMONEY - 5/6/2011, 12:35 PM
It's a green screen...not a lazarus pit. Probably just a scene for a cavern or something
Bandrews1 - 5/6/2011, 12:36 PM
Interesting.
BlackSands - 5/6/2011, 12:39 PM
Lazarus pit for a realistically narrow-minded Nolan Batverse? Probably not. Venom drug? Maybe. But I think that the "venom" substance would most likely be a cultured, lab grown super soldier type serum by way of performance/combat enhancer drug design.

As for Ra's being some sort of "immortal" - the most logical thing on a Nolan-verse driven Batman would be some sort of "Dread Pirate Roberts" syndrome and that DuCard was one of many Ra's in a long line of Ras' Al Ghuls.

Nolan's Batman is a shut-in... he's supposedly (according to Nolan every time someone asks him that question) the ONLY costumed vigilante with absolutely no place in mind for a Robin or any other Superhero to squeeze himself/herself into the setup Nolan brought in for Bats.

Once Nolan's done with this, I hope they reboot the franchise again - this time to ALLOW for potential crossovers with other DC characters beyond the Batman setting.
George88 - 5/6/2011, 12:44 PM
I think its a green screen guys. Maybe the Bat Cave?
Theamazingbatman - 5/6/2011, 12:51 PM
WTF?? Lazarus pit?? How can it fit in "realistic" world? and wouldn't it look silly for bane to have a dip in venom lake and become a monster??
DarkAvengers - 5/6/2011, 12:55 PM
This is so out of character for Nolan. He presented the league of shadows as a group of ninja assasins, not mystical beings with a higher power type thing. I seriously doubt it will be a lazarus pit. Don't get me wrong, i'd love to see that, I just don't see how it would fit into his story. If it is, It's probably a bit scene as a flashback of some kind.

I already feel that Bane is an awful choice. Its just sad that they never brought someone like Deathstroke or The Night Scourge into the Nolan-verse. Batman needs someone who can challenge him in a physical altercation. Bane is just a strong guy who has decent fighting skills. To make matters worse, Hardy isnt even 6 feet tall. Even if he wears lifts in his boots, he'll be what, 6'2??? Whoa, scary. NOT.
ThomYorke - 5/6/2011, 12:55 PM
hmm looks like nolans going all out for this one
JULEZ13 - 5/6/2011, 12:56 PM
This movie just got a lot more interesting!

I think this is definitely the Lazarus Pit! Either Raas Al Ghoul is back and is using it (hence his youthful appearance and the young actor playing him).

Or Talia just knows about it and takes Bruce there to heal him from his injuries from Bane breaking his back.

We all know that Bane is going to break the Bat, Nolan knows that's what we want to see. He wouldn't end the trilogy with a handicapped Bruce Wayne. So Talia making him use it to come back and defeat Bane actually makes a lot of sense. I'm actually excited to see this movie now!
Theamazingbatman - 5/6/2011, 1:01 PM
@DarkAvengers- don't worry, bale is much shorter than hardy and skinny too
