Last week at Comic-Con, Robert Rodriguez confirmed that he had indeed been given the script by Fox, and was reading it, though he refused to say if he was considering directing. Now according to The Los Angeles Times, Rodriguez is indeed, in negotiations to direct a Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds.

There is no deal yet. Rodriguez and Fox are negotiating, but it's moved beyond the casual discussion stage and into the more substantive realm of deal points.

Deadpool will be kind of a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but will move in a completely different direction as if Wolverine never happened.
