Dragon Ball Z Live Action Film in the Works

A small company known as K&K productions are currently hard at work on a live action Dragon Ball Z project. Check out the trailer here!

They will be producing a short film in trailer form that is based off of the Saiyan saga from Dragon Ball Z. They have already given roles to Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Nappa and the rest of the DBZ crew from this era. As of now, they are only going to finish a trailer, such work has been done to previous series such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. It is possible they will make a full blown live action movie or even a web series, but it matters if this project becomes a success. Check out some of the trailers and behind the scenes footage below!




If it does become a success, would you like to see them work with 20th Century Fox (who still have the license to produce more Dragon Ball films if they please)? Or maybe just keep it as an Indie film?

Evolution would have been better if Stephen Chow actually had input on the movie. A project made by fans would be the best route IMO.

I'd definitely watch this. Definitely has a lot of potential. They seem really enthusiastic about it and the casting seems pretty good. And they actually have muscles unlike the Hollywood version.

I've been a fan of DBZ since my childhood, and its something that has been special to me for years. If it wasn't for this show I would have never became the die hard anime fan that I am today. But I would love nothing more than see a new live action version of the series, that would get that awful taste of Dragonball Evolution out of my mouth. But I really like how these guys are real devoted fans and seem to respect the source material, so if someone could bring this to a rebooted film with the right budget and vision, then count me in.

mehhh... i'd see it. looks better than the crap version they did in theaters. at least these guys want to give the fans what they want, and not some version of "well it has characters in it from DBZ, but we changed the story". good luck with it, and maybe it will turn into a Mortal Kombat Legacy type deal.

Do it cgi like advent children then you'll have a success and a well receive fan reaction. Live action DBZ won't work, if it does kudos but it well fail.

@Bandrews1: Nice, man; the same goes for me. DBZ is the best anime that ever existed. I feel this is a cool project, but the only thing I don't understand is why are they making a trailer instead of just beginning to make the project into a film?

@Rockstar96 probably only have enough money to do the 5 minute video. If it gets popular, it might take them somewhere and they can make a longer movie.

I'm sorry but I hope this fails.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a die hard fan of the mangas and anime but the whole idea is WHACK!
I hoped beyond hope that Evolution would be OKAY but never expected it to be any better.
It was neither and it just proved my point.

A Dragon Ball Z movie that did justice to manga or anime is just downright impossible at this point.
Perhaps an animated version but live action is just rediculous. I'm sorry.

Once again, not trying to hate, I LOVE DRAGON BALL (I have the four star dragon ball tattoed by my heart and DBZ tattoed on the back of my shoulder) but I'm telling you right now.

its not that hard to be better then that ape shit they made in theaters ..one of the worst adaptations iv ever seen


aslong as they stay true to fans while updating it it should do fine

This is gonna be beast. This is what Dragonball: Evolution needed....actual fans of the show on the production team.

If the producers would've let Stephen Chow have more creative control, it'd would've been so much better.

I think it can be done right or better with what they have so far. I don't care if they use an Asian cast because that doesn't matter. Goku and other Saiyans can look like any human race that has the right skin tone just like Superman should because when it comes down to it they are alien, not human and really should like unique rather than like one of our races on earth.

I've been really trying to push this with my DBZ movie adaptations. If you go to this video you can see the links to my movies.

I took each season of the Dragonball Z anime and edited it down into feature length films, showing it's very possible to be adapted for live action.

I watched this again and can tell the guy is passionate about making a great Dragonball film...but hitting US UP like we got 5 grand laying around and nothing to spend it on is outrageous! I'm mean, what do we get out of it?

It's like a $5000 movie ticket in the end, and there's no guarantee they'll do a good job, or be faithful with the money. Everything sticks about this other than his vision for the film.

Dude, get funding from big investor's like everybody else, make your film...and if it's good ,we'll go see it!

This is just nutty!

He actually acknowledged, I think, what a lot of fans thought was missing, so I guess we won't know if they will deliver if they can't get a decent budget.

Yes!!! Vegeta and Piccolo were always my fav characters, especially Vegeta. Bardock would be my 3rd absolute favorite.

GT sucked bad. I'm glad they r basing this in Z instead and the Saiyan saga= [frick] YES!!!!

@headlopper, this is not a crazy idea another movie called iron sky is doing the same thing its a new indie film method. its funded by the fans for the fans. Its meant to be a collaborative effort. Its kind of a unique idea and yes it does work iron sky looks pretty sick. Check it out just google it.

yea talk between characters but the only story shud be sayians coming to earth right from the jump of the movie right into it since we all know bout em we dont need no intro! or lil origin about em. jst go right into the action wit a lil intro of wats goin on like the narrator does in the cartoon haha...raditz!..and so on..
action emotion..pain..sick fighting! sick power ups
cgi added to it of course make it dope!
punches and kicks have to look real and like the cartoons fast as hell haha with them fighting all over...
