ThunderCougarFalconBird - 1/1/2010, 5:34 AM
@ Jazzman & darkknight - You'd be suprised at some of the films and even tv shows that are also comics, even Supernatural has a comic series.
DJGemma - 1/1/2010, 7:49 AM

1chris2 - 1/1/2010, 8:32 AM
i liked terminator best of all of them, and x-men wolferine after that and transformers after that but those three being the best still needed work on story, and characters, and a little less action.
jazzman - 1/1/2010, 8:36 AM

Sonny - 1/1/2010, 9:26 AM
Final destination was a comic ?
jjmeylar - 1/1/2010, 9:26 AM
Chun Li only got 13 mil? You know, I really liked that film. *suits up in War Machine armor and prepares to be bombed by following posts*
dailycomicsfix - 1/1/2010, 9:29 AM
@grif..great news indeed!!!

@Minotauro..you mean CBM's? If so, I respectfully disagree. Comic books have almost single handedly saved Hollywood’s ass. They have just recently realized this untapped wealth of ideas for film. Prior to CBM's Hollywood was cannibalizing themselves by remaking bad 70's TV shows. For as long as Hollywood needs ideas for film they will continually dip into the fertile well that is comic books.
Minotauro - 1/1/2010, 9:49 AM
@Axl - Probably..
Betty - 1/1/2010, 10:47 AM
grif-- You made an article?!
foxfan - 1/1/2010, 11:16 AM
idk it's hard for me to call some of these movies CBMs. how should we define a CBM? perhaps a movie whose origin is in comic books? chun li, for example, has her origin in a video game (unless i've overlooked something). but, if the movie was taken directly from a graphic novel or something, i'd say "okay, that's a CBM." but i'm thinkin' chun li is more like, well, a video-game-movie. right?

not trying to argue, just some food for thought. like to know what others think.
Phinehas - 1/1/2010, 11:48 AM
I suppose that there is a general assumption that such products as Street Fighter or Alvin and the Chipmunks find their repective demographics with CBMers.
LEEE777 - 1/1/2010, 12:25 PM
GRIF @ Dude they may have comics but most ain't classed as CBM's if the comic comes out after the movie or the comics from a cartoon or something, anyway nice to know what all them movies made!

Happy New Years!!
flames809 - 1/1/2010, 1:10 PM
saw g.i.joe and avatar in the movies and saw [frick]ing district 9 in the movies lucky i didn't pay for the tickets
Benji - 1/1/2010, 1:30 PM
avatar [frick]'n blows the only reason that it made so much money is cause the advertised the shit out of it. when you push something that hard people are gonna have to go see it. the seven hundred and forty something people that saw it probably thought it was garbage
LEEE777 - 1/1/2010, 2:08 PM
Benji @ your thinking sherlock holmes lol!
DDD - 1/1/2010, 2:23 PM
Fantastic Axl@ Soundgarden's reunited!

Avatar and District 9 are in no way shape or form a CBM but
I guess we're doin' all sci-fi on here now!

I still don't think Avatar is much of a movie and I hate
3-D with a passion! My eyes have a problem with it and
its a cheap parlor trick to make you think a movie is
better than it really is! Good movies don't need 3-D!!

And I'm liking Worthington less and less with each
movie he does but other than that....HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Gose - 1/1/2010, 2:27 PM
James Cameron for the next SPIDERMAN movie ...
Happy New Year !!!
CRITIC17 - 1/1/2010, 2:49 PM
@DDD: Clash of the Titans looks pretty good though...

@Gose: Hell yeah to that!!!

@BulliedNerd: Don't be an asshole. Unless you were just kidding.

@Flames: Why man?? Avatar and District 9 ROCKED!!!!
valeriesghost - 1/1/2010, 3:02 PM
@AXL SOUNDGARDEN!! YIIPPPEEEEE
DDD - 1/1/2010, 3:15 PM
TheCritic@ I'm not saying that Avatar
is a piece of crap I'm just saying
3-D is not necessary if a movie is
done well. My eyes have trouble with 3-D
so hopefully they will have a non 3-D
form of Avatar on blue ray!

Movies for me at home are not that bad
'cause I have my company's awesome surround
sound theater speaker prototypes in my living room-
A-V room and a huge widescreen! Its almost like
being at the movies with the screen and our
speakers are superior and louder than theater
speakers. They're frightening in the small room of
my A-V-room/living room when I turn them up loud!

Our subwoofer is 2000 watts into 1 ohm impedance,
which would be equivalent to 8000 watts into 8
ohms, which 8-ohms is the norm. Its a monstrous
subwoofer!
lol
lvlheaded - 1/1/2010, 3:29 PM
i would say there is a big difference between comic book movies and movie comic books.
JoshWilding - 1/1/2010, 4:35 PM

Yeah calling Sherlock Holmes a comic book movie is a little bit of stretch, he is a public domain character with a lot of different interpretations in current media.
Nightwing09 - 1/1/2010, 5:46 PM

WOW
jjmeylar - 1/1/2010, 7:58 PM
Since when are the "Saw" films comic book movies? Same for "Toy Story", "Sherlock Holmes", "Street Fighter", and quite a few others.
jusme6 - 1/1/2010, 10:14 PM
@JJMeylar: I'm pretty sure the concept for the Sherlock Holmes movie came from a Sherlock Holms comic book. Street Fighter MAY have been a comic book, but to say the same for Saw or Toy Story would be a huge stretch.

Wow! Transformers dominated the hell out this year.
KeepItReal - 1/1/2010, 11:24 PM
hey everyone..

JJMeylar & jusme6: ikr! :D
CRITIC17 - 1/2/2010, 12:29 AM
@DDD: Its funny that I actually understood some of what you just said... ;) Nuff said though man!
parascythe - 1/2/2010, 8:24 AM
i wonder how much iron man 2 would do...
astromerc - 1/2/2010, 2:14 PM
I only counted 6 true comic book movies. This was not a good year for comic book movies 2010-12 that is going to be the real test. With back to back stuff coming out ( IM2,Thor,Green Lantern,Avengers, etc).
