SAMURAI JACK Returning To Cartoon Network

The epic adventures of Samurai Jack will return to TV on Adult Swim's Toonami Block in 2016. Fans have been waiting patiently since 2004 for closure on the series and it looks like they're finally going to get it. Check out the teaser poster after the jump.

Samurai Jack is back! Created by Genndy Tartakovsky, Samurai Jack follows Jack, a samurai wielding a mystical sword that is the key to defeating his immortal enemy, Aku. Flung into the far-future, Jack is searching for a way to defeat Aky and return to his time to prevent the apocalyptic future from ever occurring. The original show ended in 2004 but fans have been vocal about receiving closure for over a decade. Well, persistence pays off.

Tartakovsky had been attempting to get an animated feature green-lit for a number of years to close out the series but it never came to frution. The new animated series will be released sometime in 2016.

Not everybody knows that Samurai Jack is based on Frank Miller's "Ronin", and that's why, Tartakovsky, made an episode starring a 300-like army of pseudo-spartans.

There is no need to bring back JL, that story was finished, on the other hand YJ's story isn't done. It's a damn fine series that deserves closure just like Samurai Jack.

So... Is this actually being done by Genndy Tartakovsky? Or is this like that Powerpuff Girls reboot that doesn't involve Craig McCracken where they recast the leads?

Obviously, Aku is going to be recast either way, sadly.

The only one not coming back to the show is Mako Iwamatsu god bless him R.I.P who was Aku.

And he was really cool in Avatar the last Airbender which was the last thing he did. And they finished the series in a very respectful manner honoring him too.
