George Clooney has said he had no idea about the Bat-Nipples.

The actor, who played the superhero in Joel Schumacher's critically panned 1997 sequel Batman & Robin, often cited as the worst superhero movie ever, told Bravo's Inside the Actors Studio that the role "did not go well".

"They put nipples on the batsuit. I didn't know they would do that," he said.

Clooney added: "If Batman had to wear the suit that you have to wear, everyone would die.

"You're laying on a board like this and you can't move and they just prop you up and you're like, 'I'm Batman'."

Of working under Schumacher, Clooney quipped: "Joel was very funny, because he'd be like, 'Okay George, remember. Your parents are dead, you have nothing to live for. And action!'"

Oh man, that's some great directing right there.

Digital Spy has collected a few other times that Clooney has discussed the infamous role in the original article, so head there in case you missed Clooney previously discussing his Batman experience.

Always blaming someone when a movie flops. Insert any actor here.
TECHNODROME518 - 2/1/2012, 4:49 AM
At least Uma Thurman did a great job as Ivy
sithenor - 2/1/2012, 4:50 AM
That movie was even worse than The Green Lantern.

I actually Didn't like Uma Thurman in this movie. I don't think she's that great of an actress unless she's in a tarentino movie. Cause he writes the parts for the actors.
ballstothewall - 2/1/2012, 5:01 AM
It was not the actor's falt you know? It's with the script and the shitty direction they went through. Batman Forever was apparently good, and clooney wasn't a bad choice for bats. So Joel Schumacher can go [frick] himself.
Jer3miah - 2/1/2012, 5:12 AM
And Val Kimber didn't have this issue because...? Lol.
SHO1138 - 2/1/2012, 5:14 AM
I call B.S. on Mr. Clooney. You had no clue they were going to put nipples on the Bat suit? Didn't you see what they did with your predecessor?

I don't blmae Vhristian Bale for being hesitant about taking the role:P But Nolan knows what he's doing lmao

SHO1138 - 2/1/2012, 5:34 AM
When I first heard Scharzenegger was going to be Freeze I was like cool so he'll do his terminator thing and that will be it. Then he started talking and dancing... (cold shiver down my spine)
LoudLon - 2/1/2012, 5:34 AM
Clooney's said many times he took that job for the paycheck, so that he could start making his own films. Nothing wrong with that, especially considering the films he went on to make were stuff like Good Night and Good Luck, Syriana, Michael Clayton, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind...
THABATMAN - 2/1/2012, 5:37 AM
Im sure Clooney wakes up from Nightmares of the tragedy of Mr. Freeze

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
SUPERMAN2013 - 2/1/2012, 5:45 AM

@SHO1138
I totally agree, B&R had some really good casting, Clooney, Schwarzenegger, and Thurman, they were just utilized sooo badly!
Illcommunicatione - 2/1/2012, 5:53 AM
"ok George, your mother and father are dead and you have nothing to live for... Action!"

George is a fantastic actor, that movie should never have been made
plasticman - 2/1/2012, 6:35 AM
Every once and awhile I will pop this movie in the video machine and press play. You know...for my kids...because they've been bad and need punishment. If the movie plays as far as the jungle party scene then I know that they have cried themselves to sleep instead of admitting to what they did was wrong. I find Batman and Robin a more effective punishment than soap in the mouth.
BmanHall - 2/1/2012, 6:40 AM
Ah... Classic.

SpideyQuad - 2/1/2012, 6:41 AM
Hells Hammer, I nearly died laughing at the 2nd to last clip. Good stuff!

Just one of Warner Bros. great comic book movie efforts (rolls eyes).

Bat Butts are YUMMY!!!!
Nemeres - 2/1/2012, 7:11 AM
People, will you just. Get. Over. This.

It's been over 10 years. Two good Batman movies have come out since then. Making fun of this movie isn't even funny anymore.
jessepostal - 2/1/2012, 7:28 AM
Val Kilmer was just as bad, batman forever wasn't as bad but still cheesy and terrible. The soundtrack was the only decent part of the movie
Gusto - 2/1/2012, 7:39 AM
Godamn...what a piece of junk.
BmanHall - 2/1/2012, 7:54 AM
@ jessepostal: Yeah, it was decent but I didn't like how the music changed from Burton's movies. Batman Returns had the best soundtrack out of the last 4 movies. The soundtrack for The Dark Knight is the best out of all Batman movies though.

However, I think EVERYTHING about Arkham Asylum/City, including the music, is the best out of everything Batman related.
SuperSomething616 - 2/1/2012, 8:43 AM
Wasnt clooneys fault...he was a good Bruce Wayne...not a very good Batman...

The blame should and does lie firmly on Schumacher!!!
DoctorSnide - 2/1/2012, 8:53 AM
First off, Batman is NEVER supposed to smile PERIOD. Second, it was Joel's fault but whoever wrote those films are at fault ALSO. I was in the 5th grade when Forever came out and Like it and Batman & Robin. Then I became more aware and realized these films were POS. Such a shame
plasticman - 2/1/2012, 9:34 AM
Batman Forever would have been so much better if George Clooney was the Batman in that movie and Tommy Lee Jones was allowed to play a serious Two-Face.

@ Nemeres- Get over yourself and just feel glad that the Batman franchise has been briliant ever since. If we let off of how bad this movie was then WB execs will think that someday they can get away with this type of trash again...we saw them head down this road with some of the constructs in Green Lantern. So while I agree we all know it was bad, it is important to remain vigilante that bad things are not repeated.
SecretAvenger001 - 2/1/2012, 10:59 AM
George I forgive you! I will never forgive Joel Schumacher for putting this piece of crap together and letting out. Next time just in case you sign up for a movie and it looks like it's going to go south break a bone, get a near fatal illness anything! Reputation saved!
SaintCrow - 2/1/2012, 11:23 AM
I blame Joel Schumacher, not necessarily the actors. Thanks JOEL!
TheJoker52 - 2/1/2012, 1:22 PM
It ruined Comicbook movies ? at least his Bane looked something like Bane. At least his Two-Face had the correct background story. Unlike Mrs Nolan that cant get a back story right . If it hit him in the face . Joel screwed up Nolan screwed up both of them have done it right yet . Nolan made a good movie but back ground stories where totally incorrect , Joel had background stories , but made it a cartoon . [frick] them both Burton wins !!!!!
thewonderer - 2/1/2012, 1:42 PM
@thejokerind

Burton wins? So Nolan changed these characters backgrounds around. At least THEIR ESSENCES REMAIN. Are you really going to argue that personality adaption is worth less than looks? All of Nolans villains believe and act as they should despite having IMPROVED, yes IMPROVED, backgrounds. Maroni tainted Dent in the comics....in TDK Maroni symbolically did so as well by unleashing the Joker.

Bane acts as he should. His new look is to provide Hardy with facial acting. Honestly you tell me how an actor is supposed to act with that retarded hairy wrestler design in the comics? For that matter how is anyone supposed to take him seriously. At least Bane has a serious injury in this one. Makes it seem natural and not forced.

Nolan hasn't screwed up at all. Not even a little bit. NO MOVIE IS PERFECT, but his are damn near some of the best films ever made period.

Burton wins? You mean the guy that MADE BATMAN KILL. You know nothing nostalgia noob. Joker killed Batmans parents. Pssh hypocrite so much for back story right.

At least know what you're talking about.

Nolan rules by far above all else, Burtons OKAY and thats being nice, Joel is fail
Suzanne - 2/1/2012, 2:00 PM
He has nothing to apologize for he was the best Batman before Christian Bale.
meatbag - 2/1/2012, 2:11 PM
Batman = Good!
Batman Returns = Meh. Too much going on.
Batman Forever = Okay, this is getting stupid.
Batman and Robin = Not even trying anymore, are they?
Batman Begins = Oh, thank god, Batman's good again!
The Dark Knight = so...much...awesome...can't speak
The Dark Knight Rises = lame title. Fingers crossed.
WesleyGibson - 2/1/2012, 2:36 PM
A good Schumacher film was 8mm starring Nicolas Cage.
thewonderer - 2/1/2012, 7:20 PM
How is The Dark Knight Rises a lame title?
meatbag - 2/2/2012, 6:50 AM
I say that because it seems like they couldn't come up with another original title, so they just tacked an extra word at the end. It seems lazy. If there were a fourth installment, would it be called "The Dark Knight Rises Again"? "The Dark Knight Rises And Gets A Cup Of Coffee?" Seriously, though, I have high hopes after TDK, I just think the title is...you know. lazy.
KingEmperor - 2/3/2012, 3:04 PM
@meatbag

Most likely the title will have a significant meaning to the story, as TDK did. In the 6-minute prologue, Bane metions "the fire rises", so there may be something to TDKR's title meaning.
KingEmperor - 2/3/2012, 3:08 PM
@ the wonderer

And don't forget that Harvey Dent was black. And the Penguin living in the sewers until his adult years because he was born a freak. And don't even get me started with Catwoman's origin...
overlordfombax - 2/12/2012, 1:17 AM
Batman and Robin is terrible if you try to take it seriously. But it's hilarious if you're looking for a Batman parody. That's all that needs to be said.

@meatbag: I wish it was called Batman Rises... but I'm still excited.
