Is This The Inspiration For IRON MAN's Mark VII Armor In THE AVENGERS?

This promotional motion-comic from Colantotte retraces Iron Man's journey on the road to The Avengers and also features a date between Tony and Pepper that just may be what inspire's Stark to make the Mark VII armor.

Follow Mark:
By Mark Julian - 4/11/2012

The first part is a recap of Iron Man and Iron Man II. The date between Tony Stark and Pepper Potts starts at the 04:38 mark. Head's up credit goes to our @Marvel_Freshman better known as DCMarvelFreshman around these parts.

If you remember from earlier set photos, Colantotte was seen on a building facade here:

Colantotte Avengers.

In addition to being in the film, the actual Colantotte website revealed new info a while back on all The Avengers. Now, it appears the company will have even more significance to The Avengers as this promotional motion-comic suggests that a Colantotte bracelet was the inspiration for the Mark VII armor.

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. A fake science being used to inspire science fiction.... ummm... I'm not okay with this.
jimoakley666 - 4/11/2012, 9:21 AM
Terrible voice acting.
thalidomide - 4/11/2012, 9:21 AM
Wow that's interesting :)
Whoisstanlee - 4/11/2012, 9:22 AM
Ok so those are DEFINITELY the bracelets he's wearing in his encounter with Loki... What does this mean!?!?
NewSuperAvengerCBM - 4/11/2012, 9:23 AM
So he's gonna use the bracelet in The Avengers, where Loki will throw Stark out of the window and he's gonna use that to get the Mark VII suit, when he's falling? Better plan that getting his helmet thrown out of the plane and try to catching it.
Fogs - 4/11/2012, 9:24 AM
This explains the bracelets.
penguinlover - 4/11/2012, 9:25 AM
Hmmmm. So could Mark VII be the first step toward the extremis and Bleeding Edge Armors. From what I can understand the Bracelets create a magnetic field around the human body. So This implies that Tony's next innovation is a suit that will attach itself to him without the need for the assembly robots things. Hmm, That would explain why tony was putting on those bracelets during the headcount clip, And how he would survive being thrown out of tall [frick]ing building. Would be extremely interesting to see on screen how it works.
Whoisstanlee - 4/11/2012, 9:25 AM
This might be a wild guess but I've seen ina few comics that Stark is able to call the Iron Man TO him. Perhaps him putting on the braclets in the scene with Loki is him about to call the suit to him?
Fogs - 4/11/2012, 9:26 AM
They're the same as that Power Balance shit?

They admitted that's fake science themselves, Barrichello used to wear that shit, hahaha

imnotahero - 4/11/2012, 9:28 AM
How is nobody else outraged at the product placement for a device that is a complete hoax?
superotherside - 4/11/2012, 9:29 AM
Cool. The voice actors didn't sound like the real actors though... but oh well.
Fogs - 4/11/2012, 9:30 AM
LOL Power Balance is so fake that even in this commercial they say Barrichello was 2 times world champion, FAAAAIL!

Whoisstanlee - 4/11/2012, 9:31 AM
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4458/rthrhbthbtdrh.png DEFINITELY these. It's not technically product placement since they're the inspiration for his suit?
thetrojan - 4/11/2012, 9:45 AM
nice find sir.
incredibleTalk - 4/11/2012, 10:27 AM
@imnotahero..last time I looked Gotham city was a freakin fake but you still probably want to visit there...GEEK!
Equivocal - 4/11/2012, 10:28 AM
cool Find
Cool beans !!!!!!!
SpiderFan35 - 4/11/2012, 10:49 AM
@imnotahero: Yeah the whole thing is pretty shameless. Is that Bill Gates as Ironman? lol

I think this would be a much better marketing strategy:

6of13 - 4/11/2012, 10:59 AM
What if Tony's Acura is the Hulkbuster armour?
It would be exactly like the briefcase armour, except its a car and not a briefcase.

aferna01 - 4/11/2012, 11:43 AM
Go to http://marvel.com
There's a photo of the colantotte wristband fusing with Tony Stark's arm!
This could be the bridge armor to the Extrimis!
stumbleMaster57 - 4/11/2012, 12:18 PM
That video made the movies look so gay. and tonys voice sounded nothing like RDJ and was annoying as [frick].
nld3 - 4/11/2012, 12:36 PM
All the Armor looks the same to me except the first & suitcase version. I was hoping to see the changes go through all the stages like in the CBs.
Hulk2008 - 4/11/2012, 12:40 PM
That would make sense for this picture to show Ironman in the MARK VII suite in front of the Chrysler Building which is the same scene when Loki throws Stark out the window after Stark puts on the bracelets:

The bracelets are Tony's life savers
goldenavenger77 - 4/11/2012, 12:43 PM
@6of13

Hulkbuster Car Armor! What the hell are you smoking? And where the hell would the seats go?
Hulk2008 - 4/11/2012, 12:48 PM
The bracelets that will save Tony's life from the fall

ibravosp5 - 4/11/2012, 1:37 PM
So Tony is thrown out of window. Bracelets come on and he's iron man again.
skidz - 4/11/2012, 3:04 PM
@imnotahero: It's a movie! It's science FICTION. Does it really offend you so much that they're using a pseudo since idea for Tony's next inspiration? What 'real' science was the inspiration for the arc reactor and his repulser tech?
Bread - 4/11/2012, 11:35 PM
I hope they don't just have him put on the bracelets and the suit comes out of them because I think that would be pretty cheesy, I mean the suitcase thing was cool in IM2 but to have an entire iron man suit come out of those two thin little bracelets would make no sense
siggisuperman - 4/12/2012, 5:35 AM
maybe this somehow links into Extremist for iron man 3
laughterman26 - 4/14/2012, 4:14 AM
im going to go test this out, time to be thrown out of a building
