Iron Man Iron Man is a 2008 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, a wealthy industrialist playboy and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the technologically advanced superhero, Iron Man. The movie was an instant blockbuster and has spawned a sequel which blasted into theaters in May of 2010. The character will appear in The Avengers movie May 4th 2012, and the third Iron Man movie is expected May 3rd 2013.
