I remember the days when Jim Lee's drawings used to be cool... nowadays don't know what happened to him, he looks lazy

I have yet to read JLA New 52, all I'm currently reading from DC is Nightwing and Snyder's Batman.

Hey Guys, go check out my Wonder Woman Fan Art, and be sure to vote!!!

Thanks for the support Intruder, I don't say he's not talented. As you says, seems like a lack of passion for his work, like "I'm gonna take the easy way"

The last really awesome pieces of work from Jim Lee (I think) were 'Hush' and 'Batman & Robin: Boy Wonder'. The guy hasn't worked artistically on a regular basis since.

I used to really like Geoff Johns... he gave the JSA a real sense of family and "Stars and STRIPE" was tons of fun.

But then came "Infinite Crisis", and his run on "Green Lantern", and suddenly he had no editorial oversight and was able to write whatever masturbatory Silver Age fanboy garbage he wanted, and everything I used to like about him went out the window.

first of all, Lee's art sucks. just about every other panel has some proportion or other problem. like basic art school problems with perspective and such.

secondly, anybody who just makes a blanket claim that the new 52 sucks obviously hasn't read any of it. there are some titles that aren't very good, but the list of spectacularly written titles is looooong. and while justice league has been okay overall (in terms of writing, the art is god-awful) it is much better than this silly "obviously made for 10 year olds" avengers vs. x-men nonsense. they literally set it up like mortal kombat! give me a break.

so for you trolls that might actually want to read some good comic books, try:

MUSTS: Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Batwoman (though needs to get back on track a little), Blue Beetle, Batman

REALLY GOOD: Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E., Stormwatch, Birds of Prey, All-Star Western, Justice League Dark

GOOD: Suicide Squad, Demon Knights, Resurrection Man, Nightwing, Red Hood & The Outlaws

(and i can't resist, on the Marvel Side: Punisher, Daredevil, Winter Soldier & The Avenging Spider-Man, all topnotch.)

My top pics of the New52 are Redhood, Aquaman and Voodoo. There's just something about them. Scott's Batman owns the #2 slot along with Nightwing, Supergirl and Catwoman. The rest i could definitely do without and i am. Most overrated books in my eye are Swamp Thing and Animal Man. The rot, the red and the green... [frick] i hate that concept.

Action Comics easily stands out as one of DC's best titles.

Justice League:

I've already read the long-form origin of the Justice League. It was called "The New Frontier" by Darwyn Cooke.

The new "Justice League" pales in comparison... where "The New Frontier" was artful and well-crafted, this is garish and pointless.

@steve/marvel87 -- blue beetle, is really, really good. i don't know how to describe it. It's not what you'd expect (too "teenage-y" or "hip, hispanic youth flavored") it's just a great story and the concept of the scarab and how it is basically this bad-ass, internal weapons system (think JARVIS as an alien mercenary) that he constantly needs to keep in check. dunno, just lots of good cliff-hangers. it's a page turner.

captain atom is okay -- i don't like what they did with him. basically he now has firestorm's powers and all the internal struggles of dr. manhattan (detachment from reality, etc.). but sometimes the heady stuff is fun to read. i dropped it a few issues ago because he still hadn't gotten a grip on his powers despite numerous adventures. we get it already.

brewtownpsych- I entirely agree with you about Captain Atom. He used to be one of my very favorites before the New52. I don't hate him, i just find him "okay". And i just don't have time in my busy schedual for "okay characters". Of course, to each's own... *looks at his preference list*
