COMICS: Jim Lee Leaving JUSTICE LEAGUE To Relaunch WILDCATS?

DC's Co-Publisher and number one artist to leave art duties on Justice League for a return to his self-created, WildC.A.T.s.? Would you like to see WildC.A.T.s. in the DCnu?

A rumor has been floating around for quite sometime that Jim Lee would be leaving art duties on Justice League but I didn't really give them any credence. I mean what could possibly be more appealing to a DC artist than working on the title that collects the top DC villains and heroes? Well the latest development in that rumor has Lee passing the art baton to someone else so that he can revive his WildC.A.T.s. team, the first title of Lee's old Wildstorm company. The title was extremely popular in the 90's and even had its own Saturday morning cartoon. With several of these characters already in the DCnU, it's not a terrible stretch of the imagination to see this occurring. Of course, no official word yet but if Lee does indeed leave JL I imagine it would only be for something of this magnitude. It's currently believed that the title could launch sometime in January. More details as we have them.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW SOME OF THESE CHARACTERS LIKE GRIFTER GET INTO THE DCnU???
JYCowboy - 6/15/2012, 8:23 AM
Also to note, Fairchild of Gen 13 is in The Ravagers.

My vote to replace Lee in Justice League is George Perez. I figure the DCnU needs an epic event and thats where Perez shines.
Betty - 6/15/2012, 8:24 AM
Who gives a [frick] about wildcats?
elessarundomiel2382 - 6/15/2012, 8:25 AM
HAHA Talk about copying AVENGERS......This reboot is the only answer DC has to go up against MARVEL. Then again if they can increase WILDCATS status quo to the same level of the JLA then this could be one awesome team.
TyEli777 - 6/15/2012, 8:25 AM
I think he should stay with the JL
coolguy - 6/15/2012, 8:26 AM
I am sad to hear this. I would have liked to see him do one great arc on jl and I'm not really a wildcats fan. But this should be fine as long as we get someone great to replace him. Reis would be nice but I think I'd like him to stay on aquaman I love benes on jl at first but he seemed to go downhill. I don't think red lanterns will miss him since it'll be cancelled soon I bet. Although Ive also been unimpressed with him on that title. Maybe dale eaglesham or Phil Jimenez could be good.
coolguy - 6/15/2012, 8:26 AM
Maybe finch
Spock - 6/15/2012, 8:29 AM
U know if DC wanted to extend the animation block on Cartoon Network They should do another WildCATS or even GEN13. What do u think of that!
CapsUnknownSidekick - 6/15/2012, 8:30 AM
Whoever posted the large group of images, sorry to tell you that last one of Gambit, isn't Jim Lee's work. That would be Andy Kubert's pencils unless my eyes are mistaken.

Anyway, if Lee leave JL; I'll stop buying the book.
Spock - 6/15/2012, 8:31 AM
@ elessarundomiel2382 Wildstorm was an imprint of DC after Jim left Marvel. Independent & serperate but DC shut it down back in 2010.

Someone could make a film about the Artist Exodus from Marvel to form Image. And detail who won and who lost.
Liefeld-Lost. Outed as a punk thief.
Valentino-Lost.
Keown-Maybe the biggest loser because he was one of the last out the door. He wasnt quite as popular as the others but had he stayed at Marvel he couldve been their biggest Artist.
Lee-Draw! Has a nice position at DC but he'd be the head guy at Marvel if he hadnt left.
McFarlane-Winner. Got a toy company out of the deal.
Had a real chance with Spawn but has forgotten that the root of Spawn is comics. Let the comic go to hell and seems to believe comics are dead.
The only way to make Spawn popular again is to take care of Spawns root: the comic. The movies, animation and Spawn toys are the branches on the tree. If he fixes the root they'll grow again.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 6/15/2012, 8:36 AM
@CapsUnknownSideKick I know, lol. But that's Mr. Lee's Costume design, before it was this (Andy's Design).

X-Men #266 Gambit First Appearance

Then it was.

And since this past decade it's gone through many variations.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 6/15/2012, 8:43 AM
Perhaps one of my fav, covers by Kubert.

TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 6/15/2012, 8:44 AM
@SteveRogersSon Know what's sad? I own all of those issues.
Intothepoop - 6/15/2012, 8:45 AM
Thank god. He has NOT been a benefit to JLA.
beane2099 - 6/15/2012, 8:48 AM
I was ready to drop Justice League anyways. Sorry but Geoff Johns has not been a boon for that book so far. That first six issue arc was mediocre. It had a lot of great moments - Cyborg's origin, the interaction between the characters, but Darkseid's appearance was flat and frankly disappointing. The art was one of the drawing cards for me.

As for Wildcats, I say bring it on. The DCU needs other teams to rival the JLA. Maybe we could see a Milestone character or two on the team too. Hardware would fit in with that crew.
XmutantX - 6/15/2012, 8:48 AM
would be nice to see dc hav sumthing interesting and worth a sh!t outside of JL..jim lee and wildcats coyuld deff be that..great original team that need to deff be relaunched on a major level..even goin against JL like they did youngblood..that would be dope 4sure!!
Dedpool - 6/15/2012, 8:49 AM
So wait would this be a first time grouping of the team. Like pulling grifter and voodoo and warblade from the comics theyve been in (solo series and Superboy repsectively) to form the WildCats? I think that'd actually be cool. Have the whole thing with Superman fighting helspont lead into or be connected with this too!
XmutantX - 6/15/2012, 8:50 AM
gambit@ andy was a god on that x-men run..i hav the whol collection..loved the way he portrayed his characters..especially Remy!!
Show4God1 - 6/15/2012, 8:51 AM
I remember when IMAGE first burst onto the scene. I bought a ton of #1 issues, and if i enjoyed the book, mulitple copies (hoping one day to turn a profit if needed lol). WildC.A.T.S was one of my fav's. GEN13 was my #2 book. If Lee goes back, and does as good of a job with a relaunch, id be interested.
Tevii - 6/15/2012, 8:54 AM
I dont believe that he'd leave JL. It's the most successful book, why would they tamper with that yet?
Tevii - 6/15/2012, 8:58 AM
So far I like Grifter and Voodoo In DCU... But not a fan of Fairchild, or Grunge and REALLY dislike the new Warblade design.

Deathblow is pretty much the same
XmutantX - 6/15/2012, 9:00 AM
considering liefeld is doin grifter..im guessin that will be the next dropped book lol
Tevii - 6/15/2012, 9:01 AM
Lee wont go to Marvel... besides how he was treated. he is too involved at DC. He is an executive at DC, not just an artist.
(another reaons I call BS to him leaving JL. As an executive, he wants to maintain the profit margins they are at. Leaving JL hurts that since its the most succesfful comic book of any company)
SuperSomething616 - 6/15/2012, 9:03 AM
So basically they're turning DC into wildstorm...not impressed!!!
thewolfx - 6/15/2012, 9:04 AM
@nomis

whooah there buddy

spawn is and forever will be images best comic series

idk were u got this wildcats from
scmittydude - 6/15/2012, 9:04 AM
hell yeah. great image comic
Tevii - 6/15/2012, 9:04 AM
@XmutantX - Liefeld isnt drawing Grifter. He is just plotting it, so far he isnt doing anything to ruin that title. But unfortunately Liefeld is drawing Deathstroke. That used to be one of my favorite titles and Im tempted to drop it now. Liefelds art has not grown like the rest of Image. and his perspective is abyssmal
marvel72 - 6/15/2012, 9:08 AM
wild cats was one of the better image titles back in the 90s,shame lee not coming back to marvel.
TheMyth - 6/15/2012, 9:30 AM
I LOVE Jim and anything he does is gold to me. He and Claremont created my favorite comic character ever, Gambit. Same goes for Marc Silvestri. My 2 favorite artists by far
GiftedYoungster - 6/15/2012, 9:35 AM
Put Ivan Reis on it!!!
XmutantX - 6/15/2012, 9:39 AM
tev@ hes doin covers..thats bad enough lol

i think y i loved the lees art from the 90s more was cus it all wasnt so digital..i dont like the digital art of today..90s looked alot rougher and looked like people actually penciled, inked, and colored by hand...hell i even like liefelds art from x-force then..the digital format now amplifies all of the flaws..which his older art jus looked like a cool style..prolly jus my opinion..i wish comics went back to the basics like the olden days :-(
TheMyth - 6/15/2012, 9:42 AM
TheGambitFreak, You and me both pal. I'm pretty sure I have a copy of every appearance Gambit or Mr. Sinister have ever made. My favorite hero and villain! Gambit is sooo underused nowadays I'm getting bitter at Marvel for it. Especially since he's even listed as one of the publisher's most popular and beloved characters, not to mention he's on every top 50/100 list from dozens of comic related websites and magazines. Put some time into the Rajin Cajun damnit!!!

I won't drop JL if he leaves... unless the next artist just sucks that bad lol. Sad though cause to me nobody draws Batman and Superman as good as he does. I'd give anything for him to come back for a short, 4-issue run on X-Men :)
HeadPool420 - 6/15/2012, 9:49 AM
I dont know how to feel about this. Back in the 90's I loved Wildcats but its been a long time since Mr Lee worked on these guys. One of Two things will happen, It'll either be better or worse then what it was it'll never be the same. That's the same thoughts I have on ex girlfriends.
ThaMessenger07 - 6/15/2012, 9:51 AM
As long as they don't f*ck up Mr. Majestic!
