TASM: Emma Stone On The Lizard And The Shoot Where Rhys Ifans 'Scared The Crap Out Of Her'

For one particular scene, Rhy Ifans recorded some special NC-17 dialogue to help Emma Stone portray a terrified Gwen Stacy.

Ifans take on Connors:

"Connors is fascinating, because he isn't strictly a bad-ass villain," said Rhys Ifans. "He's a good guy that wants to do good things and serve humanity and I was interested by his moral and ethical dilemma as to how his apply his scientific discoveries."

Emma Stone on The Lizard scene where she's hiding in the closet:

"I was in the closet and The Lizard is talking to me when I'm hiding, and the actual lines for the Lizard are, like, 'I can smell your perfume' and they were playing over the loud speaker for me. But I asked Rhys to record something that would just really, truly terrify me. Not as Gwen, but me as Emma. He said some horrifying, horrifying things. It was awful, and he was so incredible to do it, but everyone on set was like, 'I'm going to have nightmares.' It was like being in a horror movie...He terrified the crap out of me…which was so amazing of him to do."

Rhys Ifans on that same scene:

"She's great and great to work with. I love her voice… She was fun to scare...[director Marc Webb] wanted us to be really spooked out. They were just shooting her locked in this little closet and I had to go off and shoot something else that afternoon so they wanted a tape of my voice, ya know, wandering around the lab and I did a dark, filthy version that would obviously never make it to the film."

Maybe that scene will make the DVD? Probably not, as I'm sure anyone who's familiar with Ifans can attest.

The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Marc Webb, based on the comic book of the same name and starring Andrew Garfield as the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film that portrays Spider-Man in film and is a reboot of the film series that stars the superhero. The cast includes Garfield as Peter Parker and his alter ego, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The film will portray Parker as his super powers are evolving in high school.

The film's development began simultaneously with Sony announcing the cancellation of Spider-Man 4. Opting for a reboot with the same production team rather than another sequel, the studio announced a July 2012 release date for what was now titled The Amazing Spider-Man. James Vanderbilt was hired to write the script while Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves helped fine-tune the script. Filming started in December 2010 in Los Angeles before moving to New York City with the help of RED Epic camera. The film entered post-production in April 2011.

Sony Entertainment has focused its marketing campaign with a promotional website with released images, 2 theatrical trailers, a prologue screening in certain cities and a video game tie-in being developed by Beenox among other products. The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012. A sequel of the film is being planned for release in 2014 with James Vanderbilt hired to again write the screenplay.

"I smell you fear" would be terrifying if he said it.

He probably made some sexual references to what he could smell. More frightening if her and Parker were intimate. Just a guess.

Most surely he told her he was going to rape her, rip her guts out and [frick] with her intestines while she watches, that's how goombas roll.

This is awesome! I have always loved Rhys Ifans and thought of him as completely under rated as an actor, not to mention being hilarious.

I really hope this movie is as awesome as it looks like it will be. I'm even starting to come around on the Ditko look of the lizard.

Nice epic fail though back on the auto play ads coming up on a page with an auto play video. So [frick]ing annoying. Really, really, nice work. New king to the #1 spot on the hall of shame.

Buddha29 - 6/20/2012, 10:30 AM
If you've never seen Ifans in Enduring Love (2004), check it out. He plays a frickin' great creepy-ass stalker.

Who's scarier in this movie? Rhys Ifans as Lizard or Emma Stone as Skeletor?
thewonderer - 6/20/2012, 12:19 PM
Reviews are calling this film

"Twilight in Spandex"

That "he doesn't don the spider-man suit after an hour"

That they focus on the origin way too much.

My worries of this film just increased
Durf - 6/20/2012, 12:21 PM
That's awesome. I wonder what he actually said

@CaptainObvious: lol. That is probably a likely candidate though
Digitaria51 - 6/20/2012, 12:25 PM
@CaptainObvious HAHAHAHAHA! That was the first thing that popped in my head..
kingshnake - 6/20/2012, 12:43 PM
@wonderer yea one said it was aimed primarily at girls
:[
Spidey31 - 6/20/2012, 12:45 PM
@thewonder the twilight comment was suppose to be positive, the slow pacing and focus on the orgin review? Well that guy was biased as if you look him up he is a very bad critic and every statement he made contradicts with other critics. TASM was his first review in a long time too. Don't pay attention to that fool.
Spidey31 - 6/20/2012, 12:47 PM
And it was for guys but girls would enjoy it because of Garfield stop twisting their words
timepuzzler - 6/20/2012, 3:17 PM
Emma Stone

OptimisticPrime - 6/20/2012, 6:14 PM

she cried out he left right after you called"
loki668 - 6/21/2012, 12:26 AM
He probably told her that Brett Ratner was going to direct the follow-up to Zombieland. That would frighten anyone half to death.

Lord Loki has spoken
