Cloonan joins a super-elite club of female artists to work on a solo Batman book and is the first to do so in nearly a decade. As for the character above, she first showed up in Batman #7 and saved him from perishing from the nefarious machinations of the Court of Owls. Scott Snyder has stated previously to CBR that the issue will focus on expanding the characters backstory.

“That’s the young woman who saved Batman when he tried to escape the labyrinth and ended up in the freezing Gotham bay. The mystery of who she is, why she knows Batman and the secret of their relationship…Becky read the script on the way back from the show, and just did some character sketches of Harper and her brother and the villain of the piece. She was totally on board, and I’m just over the moon about it.”

• It’s the epilogue to “The Court of Owls”!
• The next major storyline begins here!

Looks a little Manga-y which is totally fine...I am intrigued by this new Harper character, I wonder if she will become a new side-kick to Batman or not a side-kick but more of an underling of his whom he guides but still remains solo.

Yeah, Capullo's the best. Cloonan's art is pretty good though.

YAY!!! i surprisingly enjoyed Capullo's work as well, but Cloonan is a joy to my eyes who grow in leaps and bounds as an artist on every single project. this is exciting

@Norrin: Yeah, the leaps between Demo to Supermarket to Conan to this is ridiculous. She's insanely good.

KABOOOOM! Capullo's good, but this is Cloonan, y'all. New 52 going all indie-cool. Or Cloonan selling out? Either way, Becky Cloonan doing Batman is all good shit. bringit.

Feels very manga. Not necessarily a bad thing..

Looks cool but it also looks like it's from an independent manga comic not DC.

It's only for one issue then Capullo comes back...no worries people. I, for one, am looking forward to it.

Thank you for clarifying that! It's good artwork but I like Capullo a whole lot more.

Loved her stuff in American Virgin. Pretty excited to see what she can do.

I like Becky's artwork. She's got good line and mark usage. It's not manga though. She has a lot to do with Vasalis Lolos, a Greek artist with a nice mix of a European sensibility and Saturday morning cartoons. I think that's the way Cloonan roles too.
