BOX OFFICE: TDKR Crosses $300M Domestic Mark, Joining THE AVENGERS And HUNGER GAMES

With $8.8M on Tuesday, The Dark Knight Rises joins an elite 2012 movie club as 1 of 3 films to cross the $300M domestic mark. The film still lags behind its predecessor The Dark Knight in comparison.

The Avengers ended its domestic run with $616M while The Hunger Games finished with $406M at the US box office. The Dark Knight Rises currently sits at $304M domestic, after 12 days of resale. The film should achieve a $600M worldwide gross prior to the weekend. After 12 days, The Dark Knight had a domestic box office of $333,929,159 while Marvel's The Avengers accumulated $389,473,290, respectively. Of course, there is no certifiable methodology to determine exactly what impact the Aurora, Colorado shooting is having on The Dark Knight Rises' box office performance.
