RZA Set To Direct Grant Morrison's HAPPY

Rapper/actor/director RZA, protégé of Quentin Tarantino is set to direct the adaptation of Grant Morrison's new comic Happy, just wait till you read the premise and see the imagery.

The RZA, the GZA,Ol Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef......wait, what were we talking about here.....that's right. The RZA, who learned filmmaking under the tutelage of none other than Quentin Tarantino and who's set to make his directing debut next month with The Man with the Iron Fist is set to tackle Grant Morrison's Happy next. The comic debuted last month featuring art from Darick Robertson.

Morrison himself will write the script. Reginald Hudlin will serve as the film's producer.

Meet NICK SAX - a corrupt, intoxicated ex-cop turned hit-man, adrift in a stinking twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, eczema and betrayal. With a hit gone wrong, a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous child killer in a Santa suit on the loose, Nick and his world will be changed forever this Christmas. By a tiny blue horse called Happy.

Happy! centers on Nick Sax, a scummy corrupt ex-cop and hitman. After a hit goes bad and Sax is left gravely injured, he is suddenly able to see Happy, a cheerful little blue horse who won’t give in to adversity, no matter what unpleasant obstacles come in the way. Days before Christmas, Sax teams up with the saccharine horse to the save the life of a troubled kid and maybe find redemption amid the squalor of his city.

okay...I read the issue. It was interesting but I don't understand a movie-deal after one issue...

Can't we get Preacher, Y: The Last Man, or Morrison's WE3, first?

Interesting property for him to adapt Happy is basically Sin City meets Who Framed Roger Rabit.

Morrison is one of my all time favorite writers and Rza seems to be shaping up to be a director to watch for so I'm really liking the sound of this!!!

Morrison's take on Animal Man (issues 1-26) was masterpiece story-telling. Make a brilliant film.

Sounds cool. Reginald Hudlin is producing Django Unchained. He also did the Black Panther animated show and wrote for Black Panther comics (among others).

Happy is a great premise feels more to Darren Aronosky's style of directing but I don't know maybe the RZA is the next Martin Scorsese or something.
