Details On CW's WONDER WOMAN Adaptation AMAZON

This one's a bit of a head-scratcher. Some things sound right but others are 'oh so wrong' in this description of the CW'S take on DC Comics premiere superheroine, Wonder Woman. Show to follow 'young Amazonian before she becomes a warrior princess with super powers.'

Before you get your pitchforks and torches, I must preface this latest development with the fact that this info stems from a casting search so this isn't an official description of the show but more of a description of the tone producers are hoping to find in their lead. Still, I imagine this will not go over well with hardcore comic book enthusiasts, especially the notion that the show "chronicles [the] female superhero’s life as a young Amazonian, before she becomes a warrior princess with super powers."

Per Deadline.com---
According to the breakdown I’ve obtained, her name is Iris. “She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs. And she’s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what’s on her mind at all times. She’s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you’re lying to her. And she doesn’t have time or patience for politics or tact because she’s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for. Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.”

The positives--
1.)The network is looking for actresses in their mid 20's 5'-8" and taller.
2.)The description for what is presumably Themyscira sounds about right.
3.)The personality of Diana Iris sounds ROUGHLY correct.

The (shall we say) polarizing aspects---
1.) Is her name really going to be Iris?
2.) Unclear at this point whether she'll actually have super powers. (There's already a superhero on the CW w/o powers)
3.) 'She will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere'. (What does that mean?)

But keep in mind the show is still very early in the development stages and just about anything could change. It's worth noting here that Arrow had a lot of skeptics before the pilot aired and it's turned out to be a great series so far.

Iris? WTF was wrong with Diana?
masterhater - 11/29/2012, 7:05 PM
Sounds bad! Maybe they want to appeal to the younger female audience.

But Arrow is a sick show and they better put him in the JL movie!
DioFoRio - 11/29/2012, 7:05 PM
sounds like a superhero sexy version of Balky
JLU51306 - 11/29/2012, 7:05 PM
Hopefully this is just a casting call that is vaguely describes what they're looking for, rather than what is the final product.
DioFoRio - 11/29/2012, 7:05 PM
to this show I say"Don be Reedeekulas"
DioFoRio - 11/29/2012, 7:07 PM
If this show happens say goodbye to a wonder woman movie anytime soon.
rockerdude22 - 11/29/2012, 7:23 PM
So, Barry Allen's girl is gonna be Wonder Woman in this version? lol jk
JordanKing - 11/29/2012, 7:23 PM
This is still happening? ... Why?
RR51 - 11/29/2012, 7:23 PM
Would rather have it on HBO, if you know what I mean.

No but seriously, CW is a terrible network.
MidNightWind - 11/29/2012, 7:28 PM
Why is DC making movies and tv shows with titles that are related to the character? for example:
Batman: The Dark Knight
Superman: Man of Steel
Green Arrow: Arrow
Now Wonder Woman: Amazon
What's next? The Flash movie will be called "The Fastest Man Alive" or the next Green Lantern movie can be "In Brightest Day" and the Justice League movie can be just "JLA"
Sortis - 11/29/2012, 7:30 PM
Oh wow this sounds like a train wreck...like the worst DC has had yet.
rockerdude22 - 11/29/2012, 7:31 PM
This kinda sounds like a Smallville version of WW.
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 11/29/2012, 7:32 PM
3.) 'She will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere'. (What does that mean?)

Seriously, what the [frick] does that shit mean. OMG!!! DC's fail is so epic. Aaaargh, where's that schedule of MCU Phase II movies, i have to calm down.
PsyGuy - 11/29/2012, 7:34 PM
.... oh my god.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH "DIANA"?

and please make her have powers. Please, someone at CW has to have some sense...

Don't lose hope, people!
tazmaniak - 11/29/2012, 7:39 PM
^If it's a TV show on a smaller network with a small budget, yes.
spideyxmenfan307 - 11/29/2012, 7:40 PM
Just. Make. The. Damm. Movie.
rockerdude22 - 11/29/2012, 7:40 PM
But in all seriousness, I'll wait til it's on to make a final judgement on whether it's any good or not. I mean, it has to be better than that WW pilot, right?
jimpinto24 - 11/29/2012, 7:41 PM
I rather see a WW movie.
lsc2222 - 11/29/2012, 7:42 PM
Sure...why not? I love DC's strategy of not making decent superhero films (not named Batman) and instead opting to make tv shows about superheroes...when they're not superheroes....

It's genius...
GetsugaTensho22 - 11/29/2012, 7:42 PM
I think Iris is only a cover name for the casting sheet. Like how Avengers was called Group Hug or Captain America was called Frost Bite.

There's still nothing for me to judge here though, so i'm personally nothing more than Optimistic.
JerBear - 11/29/2012, 7:44 PM
NOBODY WANTS A WONDER WOMAN TV SHOW
Fogs - 11/29/2012, 7:44 PM
Wow. That sounds really bad. WB don't have a clue, do they?
ArtisticErotic - 11/29/2012, 7:45 PM
I thought the Pilot for Arrow was terrible and I have not bothered to watch the show since.

This sounds like more of CWs crap.

Luminus - 11/29/2012, 7:46 PM
Pure crap
Minato - 11/29/2012, 7:46 PM
Isis...Really???
If your going this far to make her a warrior this time that is out of place. Why not just make Diana?

What is so hard about making a WW show? Epic facepalm SMMFH
LFANCH - 11/29/2012, 7:46 PM
This looks yucky. When is the S.H.I.E.L.D. show gonna get going?
JDUKE25 - 11/29/2012, 7:46 PM
Screw this show, make the freakin movie!
ATrueHero1987 - 11/29/2012, 7:47 PM
'She will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere'

What the hell does that even mean?!lmao

SN: It's time I REALLY start getting caught up with the new 52. Starting January, I'm getting an ass of TPB.lol
WW, Swamp Thing, I Vampire, and Batman are the ones I need to get caught up on.
Minato - 11/29/2012, 7:47 PM
Isc2222
You comment is too funny lol
TheOneAboveAll - 11/29/2012, 7:47 PM
It sounds like a modern Xena:Warrior Princess. That being said I wish that Lucy Lawless would have been Wonder Woman in her prime. :D
Even though she is still "Eye Candy" now, she would pass more as either the goddess Athena or Queen Hippotola [I am pretty sure I spelled that wrong]
crazymarvelgurl95 - 11/29/2012, 7:47 PM
I guess its better than nothing. At least WB is releasing something besides batman and superman but yeah I have no idea whats going through their heads.
Minato - 11/29/2012, 7:48 PM
WHy does everything have to have a "twilight" twist to it?

"She will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere"
bazinga85 - 11/29/2012, 7:49 PM
I love Arrow and I understand the "no-superpowers" thing with that show since he has no powers, but this pisses me off. Wonder Woman has unbelievable powers, and they're not going to showcase them? Not even call her by her name?!?! WB is just using the no-superpowers as an excuse that they can't get one of their shows on a major network. Once again, I love what they're doing with Arrow though.
RaleighAntrobus - 11/29/2012, 7:50 PM
Stop... Just stop.
TheFox - 11/29/2012, 7:51 PM
Interesting! It sounds like they've at least nailed her personality...

Honestly, I think the name "Isis" is just a code name for the character so that they aren't inundated with actresses who want to play Wonder Woman. That would also explain why there isn't a single reference to superheroics or powers here; they're looking for the character first. But if all the character traits they've assigned to her are accurate, THAT IS A GOOD THING-- this is exactly what the people behind the last Wonder Woman pilot SHOULD have done with the character.

Still, I would much rather see Wonder Woman in a movie than a T.V. show.

zachman2013 - 11/29/2012, 7:52 PM
Arrow is fine. Wonder Woman is HOT, but shes a crappy hero.
xRelentlessx - 11/29/2012, 7:53 PM
Warner Bros, what the hell are you doing? -_-
JerBear - 11/29/2012, 7:56 PM
Wonder Woman deserves nothing less than a big budget movie.
TheFox - 11/29/2012, 7:56 PM
BTW, the powers aren't mentioned, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she doesn't HAVE them; they're just not essential to her character. It's what she can DO, but it's not who she IS. David E. Kelley made the mistake of confusing the two, and we ended up with a brutal, sadistic Diana just because he wanted to see her kicking ass.

There's nothing here to suggest that Wonder Woman won't be able to wrestle a minotaur into submission; it just tells us what kind of a person "Isis" (who I'm SURE is actually going to be called "Diana") is. Trust me, if this is accurate, this is EXACTLY who Wonder Woman needs to be.

RSDhillon - 11/29/2012, 7:59 PM
I can accept change. I love Arrow, I love a lot of the New 52. But holy crap, this will be real bad if it gets made like this.
