Television actress Emily VanCamp (Revenge) will play the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Deadline reports that VanCamp and Marvel Studios are currently in negotiations to secure her in the role of what is believed to be Sharon Carter, who in the comic books is the niece of Peggy Carter, a character previously played in Captain America: The First Avenger by Hayley Atwell. It looks as if VanCamp beat out a LONG list of rumored candidates for the coveted role. Rumored to be up for the part at one time or another were Felicity Jones, Allison Brie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick, Emelia Clarke, Jessica Findlay Brown, Teresa Palmer and Imogen Poots were all said to be up for the role. True to form, Marvel Studios has selected a candidate previously not on the purported casting radar. More details as we have them. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently scheduled for release on April 4, 2014. Joe and Anthony Russo will direct a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Deadline also reaffirms earlier reports that Scarlett Johannson will return as the Black Widow.

Good!We need more news on this film, just as @MarvelPsycho79 said. Now I wanna hear about improvements on Cap's new suit.
Jollem - 2/1/2013, 2:54 PM

gambgel - 2/1/2013, 2:59 PM
really unexpected choice.
Im soo used to watch her on tv, so will be weird to see her playing a Marvel character, specially the lead on Cap's sequel.
would have preffered a fresh choice, but lets hope she has a good role

@MarvelPsycho79
No doubt it will! :D... Outta everybody Caps suit needs to be the best one, though. He's a leader, and needs to look like one, y'know what I mean?
Jollem - 2/1/2013, 3:05 PM
@Ghostfire - yeah, that suit is neat-lookin'. i would have liked marvel's movie universe to look more like this, tho

BrotherStarkofMABMindz - 2/1/2013, 3:05 PM
If not Sharon Carter then WHO?
GodzillaKart - 2/1/2013, 3:06 PM
@Jollem: I always thought Dragon Skin armor would be perfect for Cap's costume. Good call.
SoSayethTheSpiderman - 2/1/2013, 3:09 PM
I guess they were able to look past the fact thar she looks absolutely nothing like Haley Atwell then?
CharlesLord - 2/1/2013, 3:10 PM
not gon lie, wish atwell was back to play sharon but ive heard good things about revenge so ill allow it
Optimus83 - 2/1/2013, 3:10 PM

¡She is Sharon Carter/Agent 13!. ...I'am sure
TayDee - 2/1/2013, 3:12 PM
The costume needs to be altered a little. Keep the color scheme the same, change the material.
Jollem - 2/1/2013, 3:13 PM
@Godzillafart - yeah, i think it makes sense for current times
Ghostfire - 2/1/2013, 3:14 PM
@ChristianBale

I approve. She's a good fit if you've seen her in Revenge and she looks the part.
Nemeres - 2/1/2013, 3:20 PM
Teh hawt. I've loved her since Everwood.
Ghostfire - 2/1/2013, 3:20 PM
@Jollem
Same here dude. I've always liked those outfits. But I bet you anything they didn't go for that look simply cause "it wouldn't translate well onto the big screen".

Nevertheless, Marvel has done a pretty good job adopting the outfits onto the silver screen. Well, except for the goofy looking helmet from Cap. Other than that, its been great.
LFANCH - 2/1/2013, 3:23 PM
Maybe cap will get some action now. Man's a 90 year old virgin.
bayouboyz - 2/1/2013, 3:23 PM
Marvel likes to surprise us with their casting choices. I will stick with previous choice of Charlie Day voicing Rocket Raccoon. Maybe Marvel will "surprise" us next with that announcement.
bayouboyz - 2/1/2013, 3:24 PM
*my previous choice
FirstAvenger - 2/1/2013, 3:27 PM
Fine by me
Solitario - 2/1/2013, 3:28 PM
¡¡Noooooooooooooo!!

Asterisk - 2/1/2013, 3:31 PM
Who?
Facade - 2/1/2013, 3:32 PM
She is one of the sexiest bitches out there!
Asterisk - 2/1/2013, 3:33 PM
bayouboyz -

Not a bad choice. I actually wanted him for Deadpool, personally.
TheDudeRises - 2/1/2013, 3:34 PM
Keeping it in the Disney/ABC corporate family I see. They probably signed her up for a lot of movies and CHEAP too. Glad to see Marvel's still keeping those purse strings tight, even after Avengers.
jessepostal - 2/1/2013, 3:34 PM
She doesn't have to look like Haley Atwell, Sharron is Peggy's niece
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 2/1/2013, 3:35 PM
dafuq?
BasedThanos - 2/1/2013, 3:35 PM
Blue dragon skin would look ridiculous, dude. Plus this is the Marvel Universe they don't have to use dragon skin. Just have him wear some kind of protective material made by Tony Stark of SHIELD or whoever.
@Jollem, they more or less look like what is in that picture o.O
@Ghostfire Yes he does lol.
Tony93 - 2/1/2013, 3:36 PM
The MCU version of Cap falls so short compared to the comics..
harlel39 - 2/1/2013, 3:37 PM
Cheap ass marvel, but then again, unless its RDJ,they sell the characters more than they do the actors
HumanTorch83 - 2/1/2013, 3:39 PM
I love Revenge, I'm happy to see this casting. Emily will be great in the Marvel world
