THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Moves Beyond High School?

In an interesting profile in the Wall Street Journal, fresh details on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 shoot in NYC are revealed including a tantalizing hint that maybe Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) has moved beyond high school.

Article Highlights:
-As previously reported, all filming will occur in NYC.

-Tax incentives from New York allow the production to recoup 30% of expenses.

-Filming, which began on Feb 1st. is expected to last 151 days.

-One day will be spent filming in Times Square.

-50-65 days will be spent filming in Long Island

-Set construction hints that Peter and/or Gwen are no longer in high school as there's a mockup of a Columbia University female dormitory room.

-There are hints of a flashback occurring with a set construction that harkens back to a 1945 subway station.

- A chase scene will be filmed at some point in Rochester.



An insightful article in The Wall Street Journal about the financial impact and ramifications of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 filming in New York has revealed some interesting hints as to where Marc Webb's sequel is headed. What's disclosed is that filming will last approximately 151 days in New York meaning that the cast and crew should be there until approximately July 02nd. Most of the filming will actually be completed in four separate facilities located throughout New York but there is one day where film production will move to Times Square. There's also a chase scene and a flashback that's thought to go back all the way to 1945. In addition, the WSJ also saw a set that looked like a female dormitory at Columbia University, meaning that it's likely that either Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) or Mary Jane Watson (Shailene Woodley) are in college. The film's executive producer, Bennet Walsh shared that, "When you decide to place a film, you obviously have to start with the script. Because Peter Parker lives in New York, there was always a component of having to be in New York.

A chase scene ? I wonder what kind of chase there will be, since Electro and Rhino aren't exactly "chasers".

Also, the flashback, and the college thing ? Really interesting, looks like there will be a lot happening in this movie.

Good, Peter Parker graduated high school like twenty years before I was born, I'll probably always think of Spider-Man as a twenty-something.

Lol this is bullshit.
I write a script 2 years ago for a spiderman sequel of my own. And it had electro, it had Peter in college, Harry and MJ were in it and there was a final battle in Times Square. I called this shit ages ago.

Good. As much as I love HS Peter Parker, Garfield looks old enough to be a graduate student. But Dehaan looks like he is a HS freshmen.

I'm absolutely happy they're moving out of high school! The high school story arc was good and it's always fun to explore the developing years of an individual. But to limit yourself to such a setting means you're limiting yourself to experience life beyond what HS has to offer - which is A WHOLE LOT.

I'm still in high school and I know that there is a whole other side to life that I haven't even touched upon. It'd be weird if I graduated before Peter :P

I always knew in the back of my head that if electro was the villian a battle in time square was inevitable. Oh and the chase scene with electro is actually plausible becasue electro now a days seems to be able to travel through electrical currents so that could be the chase scene. I'm excited!!

I think maybe Gwen goes there for an interview. Remember in TASM when Captain Stacy mentions that Connors gave Gwen a college recommendation? Maybe because of the whole Lizard fiasco, they call her up, bring her in, and tell her to go to another college because she worked for Connors.

I think this movie will be sweet, I honestly havent been disappointed in any of the comic movies I've seen. Maybe that's because I'm not a comic reader so I don't get my mind all clouded with how I think something should look and take them as they are. You guys should try that :)

I don't think TASM2 will be bloated. Lot's of new faces, yeah but I don't think they'll all need heavy face time in the film like X-men will need.

The edge X-Men DOFP has over TASM is it's bringing back characters that we already know and don't need an introduction because of the previous films.

TASM on the other hand needs to introduce a lot of new characters in within one film and will need alot time to develop them.

Both can be good but my money is on DOFP.
