EVIL DEAD Vignette "Mia" by Mark Julian
I just recently watched the Sam Raimi's original Evil Dead on Netflix as a refresher before I head to a screening for Fede Alvarez's remake. A B-movie that had poor SFX even for its time, thirty years later it still has undeniable charisma and foreshadows the cinematic finesse Raimi would develop in years to come. The original film wasn't so much a scream-fest as a cringe-fest. Grotesque, perverse and creepy are more applicable adjectives for the original and from the footage revealed thus far, the 2013 remake is channeling that same spirit.
Above, we have a vignette of probably the most recognizable actor in the film, Jane Levy (Surburgatory) who's drawing rave reviews as Mia. Without spoiling anything from the film, Levy talks about her experience on set and the collaborative style of Alvarez.
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
