Nacho Vigalondo To Direct Mark Millar's Supercrooks

Bleeding Cool News is reporting that Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo has landed the gig to direct the movie adaption of Mark Miller's comic book Supercrooks.

At Kapow! Comic Con Mark Millar announced that he was eyeballing a "Spanish director" for his new comic book title Supercrooks. Bleeding Cool has the scoop on who that director is.

Reports Bleeding Cool:

At the Kapow comic convention in London last month, show organiser Mark Millar stated that there was a big name Spanish director signed up to direct a film based on his newly announced Marvel Icon book Supercrooks with artist Leinil Yu. Something he repeated in his editorial in this week’s CLiNT magazine as announcing next month.

Bleeding Cool has been able to confirm that this director is one Nacho Vigalondo

Vigalondo's credits include the Spanish version of Big Brother, a short film 7:35 de la Mañana for which he was nominated for an Academy Award in 2003, he directed his first full length film, Timecrimes in 2007, and is currently working on his new film Extraterrestre, an alien horror movie.

Millar explained the idea of Supercrooks:

"The idea behind it is that a bunch of supervillains get together and say, 'You know what, we keep getting beat by the superheroes. We always end up in prison. This is terrible no matter what we try to do. Let's go to a country where they don't have any superheroes, and then we can kick ass.' "So they leave America and head over to Europe where there are no superheroes, and it's like 'Ocean's Eleven' meets the 'X-Men' where seven supervillains head to Europe to pull the biggest job of their career where there are no supervillains to stop them. So it's a fun heist story."

No word on casting or a release date yet.

Millar has a lot of great ideas, but has he finished any of his other stories yet. I haven't even read Supercocks..I mean Supercrooks.

mark millar thinking he's a super star as usual, even though everything after Wanted was progressively worse than the book before it, except for Superior which he apparently decided to just stop at issue 4 and jump straight into making the crappy movie
