The Rock Confirms LOBO Rumors Are True

While talking with fans on twitter Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson says that he IS in fact in the running for the upcoming Lobo movie that Brad Peyton is currently working on.

Rumors have been circulating for awhile that The Rock is up for a DC movie. Most people really want him to play Black Adam if DC can ever get a SHAZAM movie going. Although he has said numerous times that he would love to do play SHAZAM's main nemesis, more recent rumors say he is in the running to play Lobo. During and online twitter chat today he calls Rock Talk, Johnson said he does indeed have Lobo on his radar.




Like The Rock said in the above tweet Joel Silver and Brad Peyton are currently working on the film with no release date. This is not confirmation that he has be cast in the part just that he is a strong possibility. Leave your thoughts in the comment boxes below if you think The Rock will be a good Lobo.

Never imagined him as Lobo....

I always wanted him to play Black Adam, he definitely has the look but deep down I just don't think he has the acting chops to pull it off.

plus Lobo is going to fail big time first of its not going to be produce by Legedary Pictures. Joel Silver should has no right to produce any DC films.

He just doesn't have the face for it. And really, the rock just comes across as a good guy, I can't see him having the twisted mind needed to pull this off. That being said I don't have a better suggestion off the top of my head.

I'd rather save him for black Adam, although I don't see shaman ever happening. But I also couldn't see an annan movie happening either. And maybe it still won't.

@DarkMetal My lord, forgot those. Plus he'd be a perfect Black Adam, has the looks and judging from Doom, can play an evil guy.

Lobo? Just why? Man of Steel is the potential starting block for a DC universe on screen the second, third or forth block shouldn't be Lobo, when you have Flash and Winder Woman to get done, plus GL and Batman reboots to get sorted.

Well... he has the build and smile and isnt a too bad actor. He just needs shit load of make up in his face and body and sharp teeth, cigar and long black hair.
It could work... MAYBE!... Future tells!

I still don't understand WBs fascination with Lobo - a character the non-comic book reading public doesn't even know exists!

Why they feel the need to give him a solo movie before the Flash, WW AND the Justice League is beyond me. It is also very, very frustrating as a DC fan.

I don't know this character. So I don't care for Warner Brothers to make this. Rather them stick with a good slate of DC films they got going with TDKR and MOS. But I do like "The Rock".

I'd rather see the Rock playing the Puma, Thunderbird, (obviously) Black Adam, or even Bishop -screw it. I'll believe this when I see a trailer... Maybe not even then...

You know what I can deal with him as Lobo because he is big enough to play so no one will bitch like they did with Tom Hardy and Bane can he pull him off I think so if he takes on his wrestling pro sona cuz that's the kinda the personality Lobo has you know by calling him self the " main man" so yes he can do it and besides he can do black Adam as well just cuz they are both in the DC universe don't mean he can't do both characters look at Chris Evans he did

If someone would actually try to cast the part, and find someone to fit it as Jackman-Wolverine, or especially Downey Jr-Stark, Lobo could be outrageous and like Iron Man, he could become a much bigger character.

With the Rock, it just a Rock movie. Lobo doesnt even exist in the movie, just The Rock.

Theres just no hope for DC movies without an actual DC Film group, composed of Comic Book guys, that try to get it right.

But they'll never have the desperation of Marvel Films because it was-DO or DIE. Their whole company depended on success.

WB can always survive more DC flops.

Chris Evan's Human Torch was with Fox, Captain America is Marvel Studios. That's why he was able to do both.

As for this article, I was hoping this was false. I know Lobo has his fans, but after the flop that was Green Lantern, and he's an A-list character, why take the chance on a character that falls in with the C-list characters? People outside of comic book fans have no idea about him at all. And even then, I would think the smarter thing to do is get out the bigger characters (Man Of Steel is on it's way, but how about say, Wonder Woman) first and then focus on lesser characters like Lobo later. I could only imagine how tough it would be to market the character.

As for people saying Rock as Black Adam.......no. He may have the look (somewhat) but he's a terrible actor. Black Adam would require good acting.

At first I was not happy about this, but I actually watched The Rock back in his WWE days, he will be an amazing Lobo as long as they get the script right.

The Rock has that attitude about him that fits Lobo so well. Can you imagine Dwayne with the spikey hair, ripped jacket, and white make up? He'd look just like Lobo.

Plus he can nail those quirky facial expressions Lobo made in his Simon Beasley days.

I'm a huge Lobo fan, and I hope Dwayne gets the role. My first pick was Kevin Durand, but The Rock will bring people in.

Oh, and this movie can probably be done on a really really low budget. It's not as risky as doing a big DC character that will cost 200+ Million. Where this could be done for probably 60-80 Million. And their isn't much of a baggage with this character.

It could be a really fun/funny movie. Don't be so quick to write it off, y'all.

Someone early on in the comment section mentioned Mickey Rourke. Now THERE'S an idea! Especially how Mickey looked in The Wrestler! That'd be perfect!

Loved Lobo when I was a teenager and, if what I'm reading is true, the powers that be INTEND on this being a PG-13 movie.

So, I'll see it just to bitch and moan. Otherwise, not expecting much.
