Not only is Superman the father of all superheroes, well, at least in a modern context. But he is also the greatest superhero. I believe Man of Steel will make him relevant again. It will make us believe again!

@LEVITIKUZ- There were other superheroes before Superman, but none of them had the same impact on pop culture that Supes did. I do agree that without him, most of the characters we know wouldn't exist today.

Actually the first superhero was Hercules, but Superman set the rules like Psycho which was the first slasher movie, but Halloween set the rules.

I've always hated Superman. The original Christopher Reeve film was really good and Superman Returns was decent. I am looking forward to Man of Steel because of it's cast and the visual style of Snyder. Other than that, it's hit or miss for me cause Snyder is hit or miss.

I'd really like to know what the new "Ultimate Cut" has that the last "Ultimate Cut" didn't. The only thing that stands out is the part in the books where Rorschach talks about working with the material that he made his mask(s) out of and the rape case that pushed him into vigilantism in the first place but I thought they didn't even film that so I don't know what else there can possibly be. I mean, the last version was pretty damn comprehensive.

he is the hercules, the samson, etc. of our modern mythology..

no to kate upton as kara even jennifer lawrence, no to supergirl at all..

I hope if they do a sequel, they will bring in Metallo as the villain. I hate the character with a passion but, if the trailer looks good then I feel that Man of Steel has hope. Out of all the villains, Metallo is definitely my favorite.

Yep, all for Lex making an appearance, but Supergirl is a massive 'No' in my opinion. Superman being the last of his kind especially when having to confront Zod where he has to choose restoring his native world or his adopted is great because fighting Zod means losing any chance of bring his people back.

Having Supergirl, who just happens to be his cousin takes so much away from that type of conflict as Superman can just be like "Who cares if Zod dies, I have my family around anyways, even my dog is here"

Superman, with the exception of Zod, should be the last Kryptonian, No Supergirl, no superdog, and no other survivors.

MOS will still own anyway (it better Snyder I would like at least ONE good Superman movie for my generation). I know quite a few people here are tired of Lex but a cameo would be epic. Can't have Batman w/o Joker and you can't have Supes w/o Lex, just the way it is.

Although, I in terms of Kara, why don't Superman just shag her and have her give birth to more Kryptonians? Now doing that between two humans can cause genetic problems, and is disgusting, but may not be the same for Kryptonians especially those under a yellow sun...I feel this should be addressed at least.
