Goji54 - 5/17/2014, 5:02 AM
Dan Slott's writing embodies everything wrong with Spider-Man.
sinsear912 - 5/17/2014, 5:20 AM
And what exactly is that?
ODSTmaster - 5/17/2014, 5:33 AM
Is this made to look like an old comic book?
HOTSHOT - 5/17/2014, 6:30 AM
@ODSTmaster, yes it is. It's going back to the old days of Spidey so the art is meant to resemble Steve Ditko's.

I love this story. I was worried that they were gonna retcon Peter's origin but Slott brilliantly found a way to work around it so that the story stays true to the canon origin while showing us new details that help us to better understand Peter's transition from "celebrity jerk" to "Superhero."

I don't care what others say, whether it's Superior or this, Dan Slott knows how to peak my interest. He's the reason I'm back into Spidey comics after the god awful...."ONE MORE DAY."

How odd, seconds before clicking on this article I was singing a song from The Clash (Rock The Casbah) then read that new character is named CLASH.
What a coinky-dink.
TheArachnidAvenger - 5/17/2014, 7:17 AM
You know I wasn't planing on picking the spider book since slott was still on it, but with the hype of the new character silk and spider-verse event coming out later;
well my curiosity got the better of me so I bought the both number ones issues and I actually enjoyed the point one issue! I thought it was better than the main book.
BillyBatson1000 - 5/17/2014, 7:31 AM
The cover art is stunning but the regular pages are just on the edge of 'continuity'. And that used to be RULE number ONE in any comic.
dannybosa - 5/17/2014, 7:58 AM
Clash's suit looks like Obito's war mask....
TheFable - 5/17/2014, 8:37 AM
@Danny yeah it does.... I see your avatar too

FantasticSpidey - 5/17/2014, 9:50 AM
Would have been a better article if we didn't have to go to CBR to find out the release date.

Just saying.
FantasticSpidey - 5/17/2014, 9:50 AM
June 11th btw.
TheSuperguy - 5/17/2014, 10:11 AM
The first issue was pretty fun and entertaining, will be picking this up.

Marvel's new outlook... AMAZING covers, crap on the inside. Also see the new She-Hulk and Ghost Rider. These Spider-man books can steal my money since I would still end up buying them for the Alex Ross cover art. The art inside now is marvel just giving anyone that ever submitted art to them. I better send in my stick drawings and see if I can get on the Avengers book.
Lizardking310 - 5/17/2014, 1:04 PM
I like marvel trying to do different things with the art. But damn this looks horrible I'm not a fan of the ff art either !
mctrinket - 5/17/2014, 8:09 PM
art sucks
655321 - 5/17/2014, 10:29 PM
I don't mind people trying different things with art. I love John Romita Sr's stuff. But we come so far from then to art like J. Scott Campbell, Jim Lee and So one. And amazing artists of the 80s every gotten even better with time like Arthur Adams. His newer art is so amazing, even more so before its colored in. But these Marvel books dont seem like they are trying to go to a throwback time, they just seem like they don't give a damn. I mean these spiderman pages above look like they were drawn in 10 mins and they are so plan and boring. I mean there are people fighting in the pages, but the only thing that give these pages any action is a couple lil white lines by the guy's feet. And it doesnt help when they cover is 100% amazing and then you open the book and that is what you get. Its like marvel is now a cracker jack box without a prize inside.
SuperBond - 5/18/2014, 12:07 PM
Aw man. I thought the whole comic art was goin to look like the cover.
smudgewhat2 - 5/18/2014, 6:41 PM
This art rules.
BaneNascent - 5/18/2014, 7:50 PM
@655321

The art reflects the tone of the story. I understand you want a Michael Bay type production for a contemplative story but that doesn't always work for the tone of the adventure. Artists are selected and overseen by an editor and they are subjected to what that editor says. This art could have gone in all those directions you say but this was what the story called for. Creativity isn't confined to one type of story telling style.
Lostcause - 5/19/2014, 9:47 AM
I bet Clash die's and Spidy never realizes it was his acting on stage that makes Clayton put on the suit.
SpiderMiles - 5/28/2014, 11:53 AM
You guys hate on this art but it's way better than what some of you guys could probably do.

I, for one, think it's great.
