From the ashes of Avengers vs. X-Men, rises a new threat. the Red Skull – a monstrous force of evil, now possesses the extraordinary mutant gifts of the late Charles Xavier. Exploiting the powers of the world’s most powerful telepath, he has amassed an army and broadcasts his message of hate across the globe. Residing in the once proud Mutant nation of Genosha, he has enslaved thousands of mutants in his bid for world domination.

“This is the big one,” says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. “Super hero comics at their biggest and boldest. With the powers of Charles Xavier, the Red Skull is the biggest, baddest villain in the Marvel Universe. Rick’s story is massive and will touch all corners of the Marvel Universe in new and interesting ways.”

All that stands in the Red Skull’s path is the fragile alliance of Avengers and X-Men. Even united, they may not be enough to stem the coming darkness. Earth’s last hope hinges on these fractured squads fighting as one. But as the Age if Inversion looms upon us – have they already lost?

There’s a fine line between good & evil. Find out how thin as the battle commences in AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #1!

Cool, hoping this crossover is good! Will be weird though without Steve as Cap :/

Is that Onslaught Red Skull?
My brain… uh.. hurts?
Amazing512 - 8/29/2014, 12:55 PM
Can't wait. Remender is going to knock it out of the park.
gambgel - 8/29/2014, 1:08 PM
nice to see its not another VS thing
OdinSon2k14 - 8/29/2014, 1:29 PM
I have a question. Is Thor's gender change effective across EVERY title he appears in, such as this, or just the new solo comic? If its just the solo comic, and he remains male in everything else, the gender change is obviously a temporary experiment :).
BobaFresh - 8/29/2014, 1:32 PM
Kubert? Gross... might have to pass.
BeyondTheGrave - 8/29/2014, 1:39 PM
So...we're still doing the world shattering 'event' followed by toughest fight ever 'event' followed by obligatory 'event' number 67 to sell comics? No more stand alone stories just event followed by event? This is why I stopped reading marvel during Fear Itself, it's simply too much. No more stand alone stories; no more heroes doing their own thing.
Sortis - 8/29/2014, 1:41 PM
@OdinSon2k14 Thor didn't get a gender change. Thor is still a man. He just lost his hammer to someone who was more worthy than he. This time, it was a female. He doesn't have the powers his hammer gives him, although he is wielding a Frost Giant ax I believe, but he is still doing the super hero thing with the Avengers. He just doesnt't have his hammer.
SecNotSure - 8/29/2014, 1:43 PM
@OdinSon2k14

From my understanding Thor, Future Thor and the female Thor will appear in the solo comic kind of how they've been telling the story since the relaunch with three arcs in three time periods. Unworthy Thor will still be in the Avengers books he's been appearing in, he'll just have Jarnbjorn instead of Mjolnir. Clearly he'll get his hammer back at some point. Maybe a year or two. But the ace looks pretty wicked and I bet he won't be holding back anymore.

Sam Wilson/Captain America looks badass in the pic.

Falcon Cap costume looks awful
pesmerga44 - 8/29/2014, 1:50 PM
I am happy it is not another hero vs hero event.
SecNotSure - 8/29/2014, 1:54 PM
@pesmerga44

Amen to that. Skullslaught could be interesting.
sKeemAn - 8/29/2014, 1:59 PM
Is it RedSlaught, OnSkull, or Skullslaught?

Either way he looks dangerous and menacing as hell.
SecNotSure - 8/29/2014, 2:03 PM
Redslaught sounds... dirty. And Onskull sounds like a car app (onstar). So I'm going with Skullslaught.
osideous - 8/29/2014, 2:14 PM
Redslaught that's [frick]ing awesome. i hope this story doesn't blow. some of Remenders Uncanny X-Men was blah. and is it me or does every arc now supposedly effect the entire marvel universe
sKeemAn - 8/29/2014, 2:34 PM
RedSlaught will be my new porn id name.
SecNotSure - 8/29/2014, 2:36 PM
@sKeemAn

LMAO
CuddlyCereal - 8/29/2014, 3:22 PM
They tried to get like every single Cap costume into one for Sam (Regular Cap, Director Steve Rogers, Bucky Cap, and Falcon) and it looks like a mess.

Plus that picture would be way more meaningful if it was Steve.

Oh well.
staypuffed - 8/29/2014, 3:26 PM
I'm really looking forward to this, but man is Falcon-Cap's costume disappointing.
CyberBishop - 8/29/2014, 3:34 PM
Red Onslaught... Interesting..
marvel72 - 8/29/2014, 3:37 PM
hope this event is as good as the last two infinity & original sin.
DaneMendieta - 8/29/2014, 4:37 PM
If Red Skull has the Xaviers powers he is going to be pretty badass; if he has the Onslaught powers he is going to be Unstoppable...

Only thing I do not like is that Professor Xavier the 3rd most iconic X-Men of all time is dead and it seems DEAD DEAD and not MARVEL DEAD and I just miss Xavier on X-men
DaneMendieta - 8/29/2014, 4:39 PM
My list of the top 10 most iconic X-men:

1.-Cyclops
2.-Wolverine (pre Wolverine and the X-Men)
3.-Professor Xavier
4.-Magneto (he's been a hero and a villain but to me he will always be an X-men)
5.-Jean Grey
6.-Storm
7.-NightCrawler
8.-Colossus
9.-Beast
10.-Iceman

I've never been that big a fan of Adam Kubert. But these pages look like he's emulating his dad, which I approve.
ScionStorm - 8/29/2014, 10:13 PM
Did Thor steal Ares' ax? Is that what happened?
BrockSamson33 - 8/29/2014, 10:52 PM
@ScionStorm

No that's not Ares ax.
Shadowmaster35 - 8/29/2014, 11:35 PM
Skull deserves a thousand deaths for what he did to Xavier. Here's hoping he gets it!
loki668 - 8/30/2014, 12:34 AM
@ScionStorm

No, that is "Jarnbjorn", which was Thor's first enchanted weapon. He made it about a thousand years ago and anointed it with his own blood. It was made for the purposes of cutting through Celestial armor/weaponry. He made it so that he could kick Apocalypse's ass.

@Shadowmaster35

Red Skull didn't kill Xavier. That honor goes to one Scott Summers (Cyclops). Skull DID, however, implant Xavier's brain into his own body (shouldn't that have had an effect on the Skull as, technically, it IS Xavier's brain?)
SimpleeComplex - 8/30/2014, 5:42 AM
Falcon-America's headgear looks douchey.
thehendryx - 8/31/2014, 5:00 AM
Red Skull is Onslaught now?
Shadowmaster35 - 8/31/2014, 8:50 AM
@Loki668 I know he didn't kill him I was referring to the desecration of his body, cutting open his head, and stealing his brain and subsequently using it to target and kill mutants. TEN THOUSAND DEATHS!
loki668 - 8/31/2014, 11:08 PM
@Shadowmaster35

I'll settle for nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine deaths. As long as they're all horrible!
