RUSH Star Daniel Brühl Joins The Cast Of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR In A Villainous Role

Marvel have today announced that Inglorious Basterds and Rush star Daniel Brühl has joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War in what sounds like a pivotal role in the threequel. However, it's also being reported that he may be Doctor Strange's lead villain too...

A lot of comic book fans have been saying for quite some time that Daniel Brühl would make a great addition to any superhero franchise, and Marvel have now nabbed the Golden Globe nominated actor for Captain America: Civil War! The German actor joins a cast which so far includes Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther). Joe and Anthony Russo return to direct after this year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the threequel is set to be released on May 6th, 2016. Infuriatingly, despite the fact that Marvel themselves announced the casting, there's no mention at all of who he will be playing. It's obviously a key role or they wouldn't be keeping it under wraps! "With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a statement released today. However, Deadline reports that Brühl's role will be a villainous one, and with his German roots, could we be about to see Baron Zemo brought to the big screen? Possibly, but Variety adds that he, "is not the main villain in 'Captain America: Civil War' but could potentially be the top menace in Marvel’s 'Dr. Strange.'" As much as I loved to hate Fredrick Zoller, I still don't want to see Baron Zemo...well, anymore than I wanted to see my version of the threequel.

I don't know how they can fit Zemo into this storyline. But if it works, that would be cool.

He could also be playing a super villain that works for the government/Stark. Maybe that's who Zemo will be in the MCU?

I can live with that, although it's often kinda weird for me to see German actors in big Hollywood movie. On the other hand I always complain when they cast non-Germans for roles that would benefit from one (sorry Mr Weaving), and he is definitely one of our more talented guys.

I just sincerely hope they will never cast that hack Til Schweiger in any franchise I care about.
