"The Captain Marvel director is definitely going to be female. I'm 95% sure."

Awesome. There are certainly far worse choices than Angelina Jolie, though I'm dying to see who else they're considering.

That's brilliant, loved when DC did it with Wonder Woman and I still love it here.

I'm not sold on Angie, tho.

I wish Marvel could pull one of their... 'unique' choices and go with someone super talented like Sarah Polley.

That'd be AWESOME.

They want a female director for this? Seems familiar

I remember marvelites criticizing DC for the same thing:

"DC is dumb for this, just get the best Director"

Now let the rustling begin.....

Psylocke? Could they announce X-Force soon!?

I liked the X3 Psylocke actress, she's talented and was severely underused in that movie.

Everyone's going to say Jamie Chung but I want Maggie Q

Why do they need a woman director? I mean nothing wrong with it, but just get the best director around, sex doesn't matter. I sad the same about wonder woman.

@KingJames

Dude, let's not flame.

We're DC fans, we're better than that.

Marvel is doing the right thing, for once, let's pick a fight.

"The Captain Marvel director is definitely going to be female. I'm 95% sure."

Oh how I can't wait to see Marvel fanboys defend the MCU for going for amfemale director for Ms Marvel after bashing the hell out of WB going for a female director for the Wonder Woman film.

Pouring me some popcorn for this.

We need more female directors helming big movies that's for sure
But it doesn't have to be a female led movie.

Katheryn Bigelow would direct an Amazing Captain America movie

Jolie did a great job with Unbroken, sign her up.
SageMode
SageMode - 3/27/2015, 11:47 AM
Either way, i think its stupid to just hire a female director just because the protagonist of the film is a female also. I dont think Marvel would go that route. But they did also almost brought on Patty Jenkins for Thor: TDW.
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 3/27/2015, 11:48 AM
Is Blink in or out of this movie?
I can't see them having two Asian women with purple hair and purple energy powers in one movie?
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 3/27/2015, 11:48 AM
No offense, but give it a rest guys. I remember a ton of DC fanboys hating on WB/DC's decision with Wonder Woman's director too.

Being an asshole really has nothing to do with whatever studio you choose to be obsessed with.
MrCBM56
MrCBM56 - 3/27/2015, 11:48 AM
Katheryn Bigelow is my choice.

But Im really excited for this, but I would also love to see a female director tackle male protagonists also. For example, Bigelow I think would make an awesome Batman film.

@LEVITIKUZ People bashed DC for hiring MacLaren? I thought it was universally loved that such an acclaimed TV director landed the gig.

Well, that's how I felt actually.
FightAs0ne
FightAs0ne - 3/27/2015, 11:49 AM
@KingJames I'm a big Marvel fan, not a Marvelite, and I was one of the ones that thought the same for Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Wonder Woman. Just get good talent. If that talent happen to be African American director for BP or a female director for WW, then go for it. But doing stuff like this is...unnecessary and idiotic.

I like Maggie but Psylocke should be Japanese, maybe with a British accent.

They didn't bash MacLaren but the idea of looking for a female director for Wonder Woman. Not the director herself so to speak.
Lhornbk
Lhornbk - 3/27/2015, 11:50 AM
In my opinion, Josh Whedon was the most logical choice to direct Capt. Marvel. He has proven more than capable of writing and directing stories about female superheroes. Now maybe he has already turned it down, but I hope Marvel's desire for a female director hasn't led them to not even consider Whedon just because of his gender (which, the last time I checked, is the dictionary definition of discrimination based on gender.)

MrCBM56 - 3/27/2015, 11:50 AM
@CherryBomb Agreed! Didn't see your comment before making mine
rockerdude22
rockerdude22 - 3/27/2015, 11:50 AM
It really shouldn't matter what gender the director is as long as they're the best pick for the job. Whether the director is male or female really shouldn't be a deciding factor in this.
