Deadline reports that Ciara Renée has been cast as Kenra Saunders/Hawkgirl in the highly anticipated Arrow/The Flash spinoff series. While her name may not be instantly familiar, she's starred in Big Fish and Pippin on Broadway and made her small screen debut last year with an appearance in Law & Order: SVU. The character appeared in Smallville, so this clearly isn't one of the three being introduced who has never been seen in live-action before. According to the official description, "Kendra Saunders is a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker…Hawkgirl." It sounds like they're very much embracing the comic books here then. Renée joins a cast which includes Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Victor Garber, and Caity Lotz.
