MAJOR SPOILERS: These Two Marvel Icons Will Be Killed Off In The Pages Of CIVIL WAR II #1

Someone who claims to have seen the script for Brian Michael Bendis' Civil War II #1 has leaked some huge spoilers from the sequel, and while their review of the book is pretty bad, we now know whose deaths lead to the battle between Iron Man and Captain Marvel...

Comic spoilers come from the most unexpected of places, and Bleeding Cool has come across a forum post which seemingly lays out the plot of Civil War II #1. Describing the issue as "pretty bad", it's said that the new character with the ability to predict future crimes is an Inhuman called Homer who Captain Marvel quickly sets about using to help The Avengers. When she learns that Thanos is coming to Earth to try and reclaim the Infinity Gauntlet, she sends a team to take on The Mad Titan, something which results in the deaths of both She-Hulk and War Machine (this reportedly happens off panel which is kind of weird). Then, "Tony swears revenge on Carol for getting Rhodey killed, while Jennifer lies dying on a table, her last words urging Danvers to keep using Homer to look into the future, even though she’s, you know, dying." Take this with a pinch of salt for now of course, but yeah, this really does sound pretty bad! The decision to kill off these two characters - even though it inevitably won't last - is also a strange one, and should upset a lot of fans. What do you think? Will you pick up Civil War II later this year? Let us know your thoughts below.

these are not major characters and they will just be replaced with some other universe version. Also gusto is old. And Black and Yellow we need a miracle this weekend for Big Ben and AB to play.

Funny if true, but even I saw this floating around Tumblr the other day as just fan theories.
And if they do die they'll just come back in a year or two.

@tomasocelot

I'm still holding out hope, but from what I read today it's not looking good for AB or Williams.

@blackandyellow Gotta say...I kinda hate the Patriots more than I dislike the Steelers these days. So good luck! But I don't want either to win the Bowl

I could roll with this, clearly will be more deaths to come to characters that we care about though; I'm thinking Spider-man as Slott has finally savaged the character to the extent there's no way to save him without a death and resurrection (and I loved early Slott stuff, so nit just hating) plus I don't think Bendis will resist the scene where Niles cradles Pete's body (plus MJ gad been strategically placed close to a main figure in the battles.

We shall see

This is coming from Bleeding Cool, right? I don't believe anything coming from that site as accurate. I don't know how much truth is here but I'm sure we aren't getting the full story.

Also, I don't sweat superheroes dying nowadays in the comics or even in live-action. At some point, if there is a story to tell, they'll return.

Everybody gets killed in the MU without any consequences at all. Wasn´t She Hulk killed in AOU arc? And now she is back without any explanation at all. The same has happened with a bunch of characters, so nothing new here.....

@pathogen

Unfortunately I don't see it happening this year for the Steelers. Just too many injuries to overcome. Our only chance is if Peyton Manning has another complete meltdown on Sunday and throws 6 picks.

interesting....it's Civil War all over again but just about profiling criminals...Minority Report...

huh...kinda lame. I'll keep up with it to see what happens, though

@kenjim152 - Age of Ultron was an alternate future, it has no bearing on 616 continuity even without the post-Secret wars reboot.

@kenjim152

Did you read AOU? Cause if you did you would know why she is back and there is an explanation for it.
kakinurmawth
kakinurmawth - 1/12/2016, 2:47 PM
and this seems eerily close to a possible storyline for the build up to the Infinty Wars movies...

@kenjim152 that's a total different universe from 616..

Marvel Comics is way too event-driven. Secret Wars has been great, but it's been dragging on since May and it's not even finished yet, and they're already promoting the next big event that will change the Marvel Universe forever.

"these are not major characters" ... Uhh, these are characters that have been Marvel stalwarts since the late 70's-early 80's.

The whole idea for this comic is just stupid (and I'm a fan of the original event). I hate that most of Marvel's entire line of comic books has been demoted to publicity stunts and promoting the MCU.

@Rukawa1984

Yeah, this whole obsession with events is a very troubling trend that both DC and Marvel are guilty of. I remember when events used to mean something. Now, it's to the point that companies are re-using old ideas (Secret Wars, Civil War II, Avengers vs X-Men, ETC). Also, wasn't there just a Civil War event during Secret Wars? Why are they doing ANOTHER one?

Hell, every time the Joker comes back, they make an event out of it, which is ridiculous considering that Joker is supposed to be Batman's recurring arch-nemesis and not someone who disappears and then comes back periodically (it's been like that since the start of New 52).
