Attempting to meet detained human rights activist Chen Guangcheng while in China for the premiere of The Flowers of War, Christian "Batman" Bale came to blows with the authorities and was involved in a high speed pursuit.

Accompanied by CNN, Christian Bale has been caught on camera being assaulted by Chinese authorities and later pursued for over thirty minutes as he attempted to leave the area. The actor was there to try and meet blind human rights activist Chen Guangcheng in order to bring attention to his plight - he has been detained on house arrest for over 15 months.
